Oh my word. I did not know I could do that! Thank you very much. My senior eyes need all the help they can get.Originally posted by EditorAnneIf you're on a PC, you can also enlarge or reduce whatever's on the screen by holding down the CTRL key while using the scroll wheel on the mouse.

How cool is that...I thought I was telling my computer wise husband sometihing new but he informs me he knew that...Oh well it's hard to put one over on him...He gets me and the family and friends out of trouble when we make mistakes or have problems with our computers....This really helps old eyes like mine....Thanks for the info. You don't even need to have a mouse with a scroll wheel, just hold down the CTRL key and use the + (larger) or - (smaller).Originally posted by EditorAnneIf you're on a PC, you can also enlarge or reduce whatever's on the screen by holding down the CTRL key while using the scroll wheel on the mouse.

Nan, if you ever want to play a dirty (but very funny!) trick on DH, AND you're running Windows XP (doesn't work on Vista), wait until he leaves a document open and then hold down the CTRL and ALT keys while you press one of the left, right, or down arrow keys. His document will turn on its side or upside down!Originally posted by NanguiltsHow cool is that...I thought I was telling my computer wise husband sometihing new but he informs me he knew that...Oh well it's hard to put one over on him...He gets me and the family and friends out of trouble when we make mistakes or have problems with our computers....This really helps old eyes like mine....Thanks for the info. When he's ready to be humble, simply do it again and this time click on the up arrow key, to put the document back in the right orientation.
I found this out by accident, and boy, did it confuse the IT department where I was working!

That would be a good joke Anne, but we are running Vista on all of our machines. I use our lap top for my bernina embroidery, and then we each have towers ...mine is a small to fit on top of my desk and DH's is larger...he does a lot more adventuresome things than I do. But thanks for the tip...

Anne, that does sound like fun but I'm the computer person at our house and I will be sure NOT to tell him about that!

Joanne and Anne-
About that CONTROL with + and - keys that didn't work for me......
I tried that but it didn't work. If I am on my keyboard, I can only get the + by using my SHIFT key. I also tried it with my + key from the calculator and it didnt' work. Any advice? I am using XP.
:!: However! This info came in handy yesterday when a friend called with an embroidery problem. She was upset because when she was sending the design screen to be stitched out (it was Bernina's EC on PC screen) all she could see was the design but could not see anyof the tool icons that would let her actually stitch out the designs. I figured out that she had her screen zoomed in too close and tried to talk her through the steps talked about in yesterday's forum. I wish I could say that it worked right away but it didn't.
ops: ...she didn't have a mouse....could not use the laptop mouse screen correctly to do this...but it was helpful information overall. Her DH was able to talk her through the steps of going through the Control Panel to reduce screen size (or resolution), and she was off and stitching. She was convinced that there was something wrong with her software so her problem was actually easy.
Thanks so much for the helpful tips!
And I will definitely keep the CONTROL-ALT trick in reserve for an opportune time.
