Keith, there is no way the 'madness' will go from my life. I have this problem of wanting to do too much.
It's unbelievable how much more I rushed around this year during the show. I'm exhausted now, but a couple of nights of decent sleep will sort it.
I don't know about everybody else....... The moment quilting get boring I would stop doing it. I still get a big buzz out of playing with fabric and threads, and I have the feeling that won't stop.
But I have to admit, even though I can be on the verge of chaos, when it comes to a show like 'Festival of Quilts' I take the catalogue, open it at the floor plan, and mark everything I have seen. That way I don't miss anything that really matters to me.
A little tip: Keep an eye on Bonnie's (can't remember her surname) vidcasts. She was filming at FoQ, so there will be a vidcast about it eventually. It'll be worth watching. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

Wow!!! Congratulations, Lorchen! That is an amazing achievement. And it seems like you are developing a very healthy attitude along with it--being able to enjoy time with family and friends, and then get right back on track with your new way of eating. Great picture of you (and your granddaughter!)

Thanks, Debby! I'll go and get weighed tonight to see what damage one week of fun have done. It shouldn't be too bad, because I was careful, even though I didn't stick to the 'rules'. For example, I had a very tasty curry with rice, but did not eat the naan bread, I had spicy chicken with vegetables, but asked for new potatoes instead of French fries, and I had the most delicious icecream, but without whipped cream. I also decided to have the skinny versions of Starbucks Latte and Frappucino. I'll let you know later what the scales say.

Rita, one of the three judges who wrote comments said that my entry was in the wrong category because it's a flat quilt and not a '3-D Creation'. Mmmmhhhh........ I would like to ask her/him how he/she would have displayed it....... hanging flat on the wall, without the bag and pieces?? Using super-glue to fix the bits and bags to a flat wall??? ...... But they all liked the idea, and we have something very useful in the family now to play with.
I took tons of pictures during FoQ. I just have to get around to sort through them, and then I'll share some of my favourites.

Hi Lorchen -
I think that sometimes the judges get rushed and confused. I put a traditional wholecloth in a show a couple of years ago and one of the judge's comments was that for traditional wholecloths the thread color has to match the color of the fabric. Well, I used white thread on bleached muslin. My eyes can attest to the match of the thread colors! But I think she was going quickly and saw the backing fabric, which had red lines on it because I had thought about doing some of the front stitching in red to mimic redwork, and got confused. And I used a double batting, so there was no ghosting of the backing onto the front.
Yours is a beautiful entry and definitely in the right category!

And sometimes, Nancy, you just have to scratch your head and move on. A couple of years ago a judge ticked a box on the sheet that stated there was no applique on my quilt..... Mmmmhhhh...... that quilt was heavily appliqued. My work must have been so brilliant that it wasn't even recognized by a 'big name' judge who actually was best known for her applique.
By the way, got weighed tonight, and the way I handled the last week away from home has worked. I lost another 2 pounds.

Lorchen - you're making me hungry! I love everything you eat! I've got a ground turkey chili simmering on the stove right now - I'm gonna try to go eat a sensible portion.
You're looking great!!! Keep it up! Dwight is down another bowling ball - 4 now. I yelled at him the other day for his droopy clothes - told him I wasn't going to bowl doubles with him again until he bought a few new things. I think he got excited - he's been shopping a lot...
Why are we addicted to madness? Sometimes it's fun, isn't it? 8) Always an adventure...keithdommer.com
