    Morning Monday!

    Morning all,

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I thought I'd start the week off with getting back into regular daily postings. Today I have my Monday afternoon quilt group and can't wait to go since I am having issues with continuous bias binding and finishing a baby quilt. So I hope to ask a couple quilt friends and then I want to get back to work on piecing a different baby quilt with mitered borders surrounding every block. So far it is turning out really nice. Of course there are the typical errands, grocery shopping, laundry and vacuuming to be done. It looks like it's going to be a lovely day since it's already 55 degrees out! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

    Happy Stitching,

    Margaret

    Good Morning.

It will be a sewing day, hopefully. Much as I thought I would finish up Mug Rugs and continue with another bunch the cutting fairy inspired me and I ended up cutting a bunch more Dresden Plate pieces. Had a lovely day of phone calls from family and friends so while on the phone I started marking drawing lines on some of the new cut pieces.

We've had two days of showers already and have another four days of showers forecast. Not good for our friends in the western part of the province who are battling exceptionally high water levels. So the weather is perfect to plan a sewing week.

Margaret, thank you for getting our week off to a good start!! I hope you have a nice, productive day. It sounds like you're coming into the homestretch with the baby quilt.

Agnes, if you could send the Cutting Fairy over here now, that would be great. I'm in the middle of a fun quilt that still needs a bit more slicing and dicing, and I always find cutting so tedious.

We had a lovely weekend weather-wise, if a bit cool, but couldn't really enjoy it. Christian and I were flattened with cold/flu, and still feeling pretty badly. One good thing about being sick together: neither is frustrated with the other for lying around lazily, ignoring our chores. One bad thing about being sick together: having to negotiate whose turn it is to get up and make the next pot of tea. I plan on leaving work early, as I'm feeling really wobbly. Hopefully a good nap will be enough to get me back into the sewing room this evening.

Have a great day! Hugs for all, especially those in areas threatened or affected by flooding.

Hi all! Had a really nice mom's day yesterday, then back to work today - altho delayed some this morning due to thunderstorms and an extremely anxious dog that I was afraid would re- injure her leg trying to hide from the thunder. We ended up downstairs with her wrapped in a quilt in my arms. It wasn't great, but was better. I'm very thankful that with my job I'm able to make these last minute choices. Since I've already perused the cable directory and can't find anything that grabs my attention, sounds like a good reason to be in the sewing room!

            Hugs,

            Darce

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day and a good Monday, too. I actually did some sewing yesterday - got half of the blocks for MY quilt for MY bed 3/4 done! It's a log cabin variation so it goes pretty fast. No sewing tonight. I got home from work and finished cutting the lawn. Then decided to start cleaning the garage while DD's made supper since they didn't want to help start on the garage. We have four weeks, five days till DD's grad party and I wanted to get started cleaning up all the winter dirt that comes in with a gravel driveway,

DD #2 leaves for study abroad tomorrow so I am helping her pack, etc. We don't have to leave for the airport until about noon. She needs to be at the airport about 3:30. It's a three hour drive. Then it's home immediately for me to attend DD#3's last band concert.
Hopefully I can get some quilty time in Wednesday.

              Kathy

This os for Darce (and other people w/furry friends afraid of thunderstorms): I heard from a vet that if you take a dry, unused dryer sheet and rub it on your dog at the first sign of a storm it often helps. The idea is that dogs really feel all that extra static in the air, just like we do when we drag our feet across the carpet. The dryer sheet "grounds" the static and helps them calm down. (Ever hear of dogs trying to go into the bathtub during storms? It seems they instinctively know they're more protected there.)

Another thing to try is a "thunder shirt" (http://www.thundershirt.com). This is a shirt for dogs designed by Temple Grandin based on her experiences with anxiety from her autism. A friend of mine has one for her dog who has anxiety issues and it works really well.

What a whirlwind Monday, I've had!

Today is our guild day. Our 3-hr workshop for the afternoon was full so they added a morning class and I was moved to that one. The class was from 9 - 12 and then I came home. I'm only 10 mins away which is wonderful and not normal since I live in the country.

Then I had to get to work on my last Round Robin. I had even worked on it yesterday 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. after being at a quilt show all day. I chose a too involved border for this late in the game! LOL!! (The 3rd week snuck up on me! ops: ) Anyway, midst quite a bit of ripping and resewing, I got the pieced border to fit, the corners to make a corner, and it is all on and finished! I'll head out for guild in a few hours.

I called my mom to chat and to lower my blood pressure!! :P

Our workshop today is by Designs by Diane and she is doing the program tonight. I already have some patterns & kits I want to get from her! I'll attach what I got done at the workshop. It needs a border yet before quilting. It is about 18 x 24"... just guessing as the pattern is downstairs already.

I keep thinking "this week will be better" and then the week is busy! Surely I'll be right this time!!

Thankfully, our dog isn't bothered by storms or a son & his gun or plastic bubbles that pop!
