    April Finishes

Okay, let's show our finishes for April. Peggy, read the Monday thread and see you're ready. Glad someone is ready to post. I'm still stitching the finish I was hoping to finish for Georgia's challenge to me for March.

    #2
]I finished quilting this BOM from Judy Liquidara which was pieced in 2008, I believe. It was all left-over or stash fabrics. But the thing that is really a conquoring piece for me was that it is all quilted on my sit-down HQ16! Finally, after 2 years, I have had the inclination to really figure it out! As you can see, I did quite a bit of detail, just to challenge myself with learning control. Of course it's not perfect, but it's a scrap quilt and my 8 year old grandaughter (pink & purple!!!!) already begged me for it! ha

Thanks Agnes! I had hoped to finish this for March but missed the cut
Lynn, that is stunning!! What a great job you did! I love the quilting.
Here's my quilt for my niece's little girl. It's also a UFO because the fabric is from 7 years ago when I made my 1st dgd a quilt. I had bought a huge amount of fabric (Moda, Wind in the Willows) - as I usually do, and had some extra blocks left over that I had hoped to use one day -- and I almost forgot I had it. The pattern is similar too -- I think I got it from a magazine back then. I made too many blocks, so I used them on the back as well since I ran out of backing fabric. I didn't fm with my granddaughter's quilt -- I'm still learning that as well, and also learning to just go for it. Who's going to know whether you mess up a bit. My little grandniece, I would guess, could not care less. I sent it off yesterday so I'm hoping they like it.

Seeing all these beautiful completed projects is starting to get me motivated. Keep it up girls I need all the motivation I can get. I got to thinking the other day and I think it has been over a year since I've really done much of any sewing or quilting. No wonder I'm losing my mind (at least what I had left)!

Rather than start another section I will post this project here. Yes, it is a top only but it is a finish for me. This top now goes to a church group to quilt and sell to raise funds for an overseas mission. This is the fourth and last top to use the fall colored scraps I had accumulated over the years.
The last bits will become mug rugs. I am planning to make up a bunch for our 50th year reunion of high school graduation. We were only a class of 13 and the celebration is in Sept 2012 so I think I can get approx 30 made by then. I may also prepare signature blocks to sign at the reunion for my personal remembrance.

There is no pattern or name as such for this quilt. This is true of almost all I do. This is the latest finish in my "Stash Buster" series that actually got started in 2000 as a Millenium project. Yes, that was over a decade ago. I have added a lot of fabric over the years but have kept it at a minimum for about two years now.

Details on this pattern: I had oodles of 2 1/2" cut triangles, sorted them into color groups. I also had many 2 1?2 and 2" strips. The project started as 6" Hole in the Barn Door" or "Churn Dash" blocks, whatever name you know this block as. Then I cut the 2" strips into squares and sashed with that. Then I sewed and sewed until I ran out of blocks.

i have similar blocks in pink and assorted all set to be sewn. My ultimate goal is to use up all my fabrics. Then I can start with a new slate and new goals.
