Morning monday
Hi all,
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I saw this post on Martha Stewart's blog this morning and thought you all might be interested.
http://www.themarthablog.com/
She has a few nice pictures about a red and white quilt display. There are some beautiful quilts. Hope you all enjoy.

Oh Gals -- was I lucky!! I convinced my dh to take me to this event in NYC on Sunday. I told him it was free (okay the price of a train ticket to get down there) and I found a pub a couple blocks away that played the baseketball games for us to visit after we went.. (keep him happy, too, right??) It was absolutely breathtaking -- almost a religious experience. The amount of variety in a simple color scheme of red and white. The lighting -- just amazing! Here are some photos that I took. I especially like the one quilt that is like a giant quilt label from the 1800's "from your very affectionate mother Lavinia" -- just so Charles and Cornella know who made that for them -- too funny!!Deborah W

That must have been so incredible Peg - you lucky dog you! Can you see how green I am from where you are!!! hahaha
Well, last night I'm working away sewing up pairs of the rectangles I'd created out of the trapezoids ( that what I think that shape is). I keep looking at my rectangles and looking at the photo in the book and finally I realize that I've sewn all of those trapezoids together backwards!!! If I'd been using regular fabric, it would have been apparent right away because the wrong sides of my fabric would have been together, but batiks right and wrong sides are not so different. I laid out a few blocks and I think I'm ok - the friendship stars will be backwards, but I doubt if ds/ddil will know the difference. It irritates the you know what out of me tho!Deborah W

I saw an article about this exhibit in one of my quilt magazines. I paid attention to it since my DD and I will be going to NYC in 16 days for her (last) high school band trip. She doesn't know it yet but I am hoping to sneak in a visit to the museum when we have free time. She wants to go to Central Park, though, and since it is HER trip, i may not be able to squeeze in the quilt museum. But I'm sure gonna try!
No quilting for me this weekend - I cleaned house and went to a funeral on Saturday afternoon, then went to play cards Saturday night. On Sunday we went to visit my brother and family. Then it was Monday again..... And today is Tuesday already!

Yes, Kathy - what Margo said is true, but the American Folk Art Museum has two branches not far from Central Park. One is near Lincoln Center and the other is in midtown near 5th Ave, Rockefeller Center, St. Pat's etc. There are usually quilts displayed there as well. Hope you get to visit -- have a wonderful time.

Yes, Peggy - that's the branch I was thinking of. We will be right near St. Patrick's Cathedral and Thanks, Margo - for the reminder. I was going to pull the article and read it again before I went and I know I printed off a map to take with me just in case it works out.
