    TGI finally Friday

After a productive Wednesday I didn't get any sewing done yesterday. Did my shopping/errands run which took half the day. Went out onto our small deck and demolished the last of the ice. Found the screen that had flown off our window during the January blizzard and brought that in to heal. Put some suet sticks up for the birds -- my backyard is a big hill and I wasn't going up there in 2 feet of snow -- yesterday I managed to use a shovel as a cane and resuet the feeders. So today I hope to finish the binding on my comfort quilt and I should also finish and layer and quilt my challenge wh for my guild project -- due in 10 days. I need that deadline or nuttin' gets done
Hope you all have a great day and weekend. It's going to be 60 here today -- YES!!! Okay -- and 40 tomorrow.

Yesterday was not a very productive day. I headed to Michaels to get needle threaders but was highly disappointed as the sewing/quilting notions section had more empty pegs than pegs with merchandise. For lack of any threaders I opted to buy applique needles to see if I could thread them without a threader. It certainly was a stretch so last night I remounted the magnifying lamp and threaded the 20 needles without too much difficulty after I figured out the easiest way to hold and thread. I have my bag packed with two projects, one binding and one hand piecing so I should be good for the afternoon at the hospital again. I got very little stitching done yesterday as it was a continuous round of activity at Vern's bed with practice nurse in training. Have to wait and see what today brings.

Yay for Friday!!!! I'm off today, which means I'm cleaning house and doing laundry. The upside is that our little local retreat starts today and I should be packed up by about lunch. Still haven't decided what to bring for food. Actually, I haven't decided what to bring for projects either. I still need accent fabric for the wedding quilt and lots of sub-cutting strips. I somehow do have several (or more) projects that have already been started that could be worked on too.

This morning I'm also finally putting away my Nativity and snowmen. Maybe if those snowmen get stored away, it won't snow anymore - hahahahaha. Guess I can dream huh?

      Better get at it.

Yesterday was a doctor day, but don't have to go back for a week, so the whole weekend is free to sew, been finishing up a snowflake coaster(p.c.) then I think I will take anap because i'm still tired from yesterday. Then when I get up i'm going to sew.
        Have a good day everyone.

Finally a sewing day for me. I had cut up some Yellow Brick Road blocks, which are easy, but when you sew them into a row, then rows, the challenge begins. Maybe I'm too fussy what touches what, and too many of the same fabrics close bye. Well I'm up to the final 4 rows! YEAH! Enjoy your weekend.

My dad had his gall bladder surgery today. Very stressful. He's in ICU for the night, and tomorrow they should move him to a regular room. Poor guy, this is NOT what he wanted!! he's going to be 91 in a couple of weeks. But, he made it through the surgery, and though recovery is not going to be easy, he's a fighter.

Lauree - hope your dad does well and is able to go home soon.

I worked today, then went to a benefit fish fry dinner for a local kid who needs a kidney transplant. Then I came home while DH and DD stayed to go to the basketball game. I sat my butt on bleachers enough years watching my own kids play. Now I can come home if I want to. I started the house cleaning because we are having company tomorrow night. My cousin and his wife have been wanting to come and see the new house but never made it over all summer - we were busy or they were busy. Finally they are coming tomorrow night and so is my sister and her husband. DD is bringing friends over tonight after the game so that is the other reason I came home to clean.

Hoping tomorrow I will get all the cleaning done early and can sneak into the sewing room? Sunday I plan on watching the Daytona 500 and doing applique or sewing during commericials. AND watching it snow. Now they are talking 3 - 5 inches for our area.

Lauree, hope your Dad's recovery goes well. You say he's a fighter and attitude is everything!
I spent most of the afternoon moving my "winter sewing room" from the dining room back out into the unheated sunroom.
Tomorrow all my children and grandchildren will be coming for the afternoon. We're celebrating 3 birthdays with Chinese food and three cakes so it will be a busy day with lots of leftovers. We like creative cakes, and this year the 3 DGDs are in charge of the baking. Can't wait to see what they come up with! We're supposed to get "plowable".snow on Monday....good day to move everything back to the dining room and keep working on some swap blocks. I'm driving to Lancaster on March 16. There better be no snow during that week!! Hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.
