Houston didn't want it--where should i send it?

 :? :?: Houston rejected Dad's House Plan, so I will have to try for other shows. I thought this one might have a chance to get in Houston, sigh...nevermind...I'll just keep trying. Maybe next year. Suggestions for where? I'm thinking I'll try for several shows.

Lotti, Thank you. I think they get overwhelmed with a plethora of magnificent quilts and they have to reject some very good quilts (might I humbly say mine included 8) ). I would so like to have my quilts in Houston, and I have tried for three years now, but with every rejection I have taken a hard look at my work and started working to improve. With this one, though, I kind of think it just didn't fit. I hope it will get in other shows and even win ribbons. I am working on a new show quilt right now, so I am only a bit sad it didn't get in....not too discouraged....too big an ego for that.

I don't have any specific show suggestions -- there are just so many to choose from. But I do think you should enter it other places. It's beautiful!! And the judges' comments might give you clues as to why they didn't accept it at Houston. Of course, the judges and the show focus are so different at the different shows that it might not help that much. But it still should definitely be entered other places!

Oh, BJ, how disappointing! I'm sorry to hear it. Did you send it to the special Tactile Architecture exhibit? or to the regular juried and judged part of Houston? I think everyone else is right—do send it some place else! AQS has added several new shows, so perhaps one of those would be a good place. Hugs, Robin

Thanks Nancy and Robin. I absolutely plan on attempting multiple shows. I think the suggestion for one of the new AQS shows is a good one. Also I am thinking Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival Mancuso show in February. Robin, I sent it to the regular show. I intend some day to get my quilts in that show and perhaps some year in the future to win a big ribbon....see...I'm not horribly discouraged, just really disappointed.

Well, I'm glad you're not discouraged. You're too talented for that. And any place it does get accepted will net you comments, which might help. I think it was quite an original idea, and quite different from a lot of show quilts, so I'm sure it will get attention someplace. And, now you've fixed the wavy issue, so your photos will be better. PS: I've just returned from Fedex, where I handed over my 2013 Hoffman challenge quilt! (with a day to spare, even :? ) Here's hoping both of our Hoffman challenge quilts will be traveling this year!

I got my first Hoffman Challenge off about two weeks before the deadline. Except for the label and filling out the application, it was done the end of April. Maybe there will be three traveling this year but I am not holding my breath. Just had fun finally doing the challenge. Best of luck to both of you, Ann

This is my first entry. Every year I look at the fabrics and this is the first time I had a really concrete idea in the beginning and this was my year to do challenges. One is in a book, one has been rejected, one was in the Minnesota Quilt Show art quilt category- no ribbons or prizes but accepted. And I did one for the Twenty challenge (I think mine is number 63) and the Hoffman challenge. I have two more challenges in mind so will see how those go Of course I have to get them done in time Well we will see what happens. Hugs to all and good luck, Ann
