    Paducah 2012

Well, it is in a little over 3 months and time for everyone to make plans. Are any of you going to be able to go? I am going, but don't know if it is just for one day or several. I have no reservations yet, so I may need to borrow my niece's couch for a night or two.

I plan to go as my plan for last year fizzled out. I have a long-lost friend there so need to check with her if I can still stay there. I also need to check with my local friend to see if she would go this year. She ended up with a new gr daughter last April so that put a kabosh on our plans. It is such a far drive for me to do alone. This year I could so will consider that if I have to.

Joyce, maybe I will see you there. I am torn between what days to go. Alex will do her presentation on Wed. evening, and I am guessing Ricky will have his show on Friday. I can't stay that long. I am waiting to receive the show book so I can compare all the advantages. I do know one day is not enough if you want to see everything. It is great fun.

My plans for last year got nipped and I lost money due to the flooding--my hotel was under water and closed. I'd like to try again this year, but want to stay more than one day. I couldn't take it all in, in just one day.

I'm an AQS member. Where do I request a show book? Or is it just online at their site? I'd like to take a class or 2. Plan to allow 2 days for the show. It is a full day of driving each way. 8 1/2 hrs.

Joyce, yes it is at the AQS site. I went to Paducah show info. You could download a PDF to view or copy, or request a book to be sent to you. I want to take my time looking over the classes so I requested the book. I think it cost $2.00. Worth it to me. I just did this last night, so I don't have the book yet.

My Sister and I have gone to Paducah for the past 4 years but were thinking of going to Knoxville this year. I cannot find anything on the AGS web site about Knoxville. Is there not going to be a show there this year? Thanks in advance for any information.

The AQS show that was in Knoxville has been moved to Grand Rapids MI: http://aqsshows.com/AQSGrandRapids/

Thanks! I think I'd prefer having the book in my hands to mark up so I ordered mine last night.

Joyce, I receive my show registration book today, so it didn't take long. I like to read over the classes, compare times and the cost. That is so much nicer than trying to read it all online. I will probably register online, once I decide what classes I want to take and what special events I want to attend. I can't stay the whole time, so I am torn between Alex on Wednesday night and Ricky on Friday. Maybe I will just have to stay the whole time.

I won't be there the whole time either. I think it is a good 8 hr drive so I have the day down & day back and hope to have 2 days in the middle for the show & some classes.

Cathy, you have no option but to stay 3 days

Ricky's classes and concert are a MUST!!! I have never had a class from Alex, but from everything I have seen on TQS and heard I wouldn't want to miss here either. I hope that you can manage to see them both.

Pam, I guess you are right, I must stay. I will just have to stay away from the vendors. I love vendors, but I will have no money left. And I can't forget Hancocks. That is another must. I have already registered for the Machine Quilters Showcase in Kansas City. I love quilt shows.  Now I had better try to find a room and hope I don't have to drive too far to get one. Is anyone interested in sharing a room?

OK, I did it! I have reservations for a 2 bed room from Wed. until Sat. The only bad thing is, it is 22.7 miles from Paducah. I don't mind a 30 minute drive though. The one I had last year was 45 minutes away. I guess to get a close room we have to book now for next year. I think I will do that too. It can be cancelled if life chances things.

For any of you who are going to be in Paducah for the show this year, please check out my blog of March 5. It's an open invitation to any TQS members who are in town to stop off at my house (321 Madison St) after the show closes for the day to meet other TQS members, have something to eat, something to drink and share good conversation. And, of course, a show-and-tell of what you've bought. The house is just a block from the convention center and a block from the museum.
