Big wins at MQS and MQX-Margo, you're makin' me blush!!

Well, it's true! I just received a Best in Show in the Just For Me category at MQS (Machine Quilter's Showcase) in my home town, Overland Park, Kansas with my quilt, Mutton But Letters!! I also was awarded 1st place in the Just For Me bed quilt category with Nouveau Quattro Alfabetico and a 1st place in the regular wall quilt category with Red Letter Daze!! (For the record, the Just For Me categories are for quilters who only quilt for themselves or family, not as a business for others.) This comes just 4 weeks after winning Best in Show at MQX (Machine Quilters Expo) in Rhode Island with Red Letter Daze and 2nd place with Mutton But Letters!! I am still reeling about them all and still wondering if they made a mistake! The best thing about the MQS show here in town was that I got to volunteer in the judging room on Sunday and Monday and be a holder and a scribe for the judges, Linda McCuean and Pat Harrison. It was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend doing it if you ever have a chance. It sure makes you look at quilts in a different light. Back to quilting!!

How beautiful! Are the red letters embroidered or quilted with red thread?

Joyce, Thanks! The letters are free-motion embroidered with red thread, as are the scrolls. Actually pretty easy to do!

Janet, I just got home from MQS. I think your quilts are just gorgeous. I was so glad to see them in person. Thankful I was able to quickly say Hi before my class, because I never had a chance to see you again.
This was my first visit to MQS. I learned alot, both from the classes I took and from just looking at the quilts. And I loved the vendors. Spent way too much   I asked my husband if he wanted to go in with me, but he said no and sat in the lobby reading a book. He thought I was "just" looking at quilts  . I am already making plans for next year. I would love to go to Houston, but I think my next show will be Des Moines. I have to save up some more money.

Oh, NOW you mention that!! ......no black sheep in this one but I smell an idea a brewin"!!

Cathy, I'm glad you enjoyed seeing my quilts. It was a fabulous show. I needed a quilt show "fix" and I sure got one! I should be fine until the next one! You'll probably see a couple of these quilts in Des Moines also. The deadline is this week and then the deadline for Houston is less than a month so I need to make a decision as to what goes where, and try to finish the one I'm working on now. Save some money for Des Moines! It's a great show too! Back to quilting!.....Oh, and thank you everybody for the very nice comments on my quilts!!

I also just got back from MQS and was so lucky to see these beautiful quilts, and all of the others in the show! They definitely deserved the awards that they got! They are really incredible in the pictures, but even more so in person!! Thanks for sharing your quilts with the rest of us!
