which show to go to Houston or Padukah

If I can only go to one big quilt show in my life, which one should I choose, the Houston show or the AQS Padukah show? I have heard about both of them for so many years I can not choose.

The Houston show takes place entirely in one building. One really BIG building!!
Lots of great classes, lectures, seminars, events, shopping, and more quilts than you can see in two days! It's great!!

The Paducah show is spread all over the entire town, and there are quilts and classes and vendors in several locations. The town really supports the events and you can get some interesting meal options offered by the local churches and civic organizations. You also have the fabulous National Quilt Museum right there in town.

I have been to both venues a couple of times, and would be hard pressed to choose one over the other. No matter where you decide to go, wear comfortable shoes!
You're gonna have a wonderful time!

I live in Pacuah so I am very partial. Paducah goes all out for its visiting quilters. The AQS Quilt Show runs from Wed to Sat there are several events that start on Sunday. The local Mall has it vendors open on Monday, the Rotary Club show opens on Tuesday and Eleanor Burns starts her classes and sops on Sundays at Carson Park [the farigrounds] on Sunday. If you come early you can enjoy some of Paducah's other points of interest. There is also an Armish quilt show the same week about an hour away, and of course you can't forget to go to Hancock's. I think our local quild meeting is the same week and we welcome ALL quilter and would love to meet youl.

Houston! When you walk in to the convention center you will think you died and went to quilting heaven. Can't carry all those packages all day? Second floor has a storage place and you can UPS it all home!

you guys are making this very hard. My husband says I can only go to one a year. Do you suppose if I go to Padukah in April he will forget by October? It might be worth a try.
thanks everyone for the help ( I guess). You have confirmed my thoughts that they are both amazing shows.

Technically if you go to Houston this year then Paducah will be an entirely different year! You're fully within the one-show-per-year rule!

Believe me I had already thought of that but did not realize the hotels would sell out so early. I have two friends that I was going to meet up with in Houston. We are hoping a room will open up for this year. It is so much nicer to stay close to these shows than far out of town. In my dream world I just travel from one show to the next all year long. Sigh
