    Super Seminar Questions

Hi All -- I am considering attending Ricky's super seminar in Seattle in August. My DS and DIL live there and could stay with them and also attend the seminar.

Is is just one class with the teachers changing or do we have to pick a class to take? Do we receive anything to help remember or do we have to take a notebook to take notes. Do Ricky and the ladies sell any of their goodies there?

I'm sure these are dumb questions, but just wanted some opinions.

    Thanks, Sharon in Colorado

    Sharon,
I took the seminar in Houston. It is one class in one room. Alex, Ricky, and Libby take turns coming in and talking. You get a notebook with everything that is covered. Just show up with a pen and your camera.

If you have the chance, you should go. My Sister and I went to the one in Knoxville, Tn. and I learned so much and had a great time as well.

GO TO THE SEMINAR!!!!!! You will learn sooooo much. You just have to show up. At our seminar in Sarasota a few years back, you didn't even have to bring a pencil. Ricky provided that. You will also get to enjoy a concert by Ricky on the evening between the sessions. There will be lots of goodies to buy so pack your credit card. I helped Ricky arrange the one in Sarasota, but I am attending the one in Ocala because I have not been to a Super Seminar with Alex and Libby. And I'm looking forward to seeing the guys again. End of commercial. Betty Ann in cold Florida

Sharon, definitely go if you have the chance...you'll come away with so much information, and from three different personalities....I went to the one in Knoxville in 2007, and then helped set up the ones in Paducah and Houston last year....so much fun! You'll learn a ton and laugh a lot too.

MONEY WELL SPENT! I also went to the one in Knoxville and often find myself referring back to techniques that are covered in the syllibus. You will not believe how much information those folks pack into a couple of days!! And because you are sitting, and not changing venues/classrooms, you don't come away feeling exhausted, but definitely fired up and inspired! Go for it!

I saw Ricky and Alex in Buffalo last October. Remember when we voted for our favorite shop and the winner was from there. I think what they did for us is similar to the Super Seminars.

We sat in the college's large auditorium. They had the stage set up with design walls and sewing machines. There was a super large screen and the camera man did a fantastic job of getting right in close and showing us certain techniques. Alex did her binding-joining technique and I had never been able to see and understand it so well before.

Each took about 1/2 hr. on a topic except when Ricky took almost 45 minutes on his Kool Kaleidescope and they alternated with a break here and there. The local shop brought stuff for us to buy and of course thier books, patterns and Ricky's DVD's. They were right there during breaks for us to meet, ask questions and get autographs!

It was a wonderful day and so cool to see the quilts up close.

GO!! GO!! You won't be sorry!

Sharon, save your money because you will have to buy Ricky's fabric, his DVD's, Alex's books and patterns, Libby's circle maker , you'll know after you have been there. The great thing about the seminar is that Justin will set up a shopping bag and keep it behind the counter with your name on it and then during the breaks and after a lesson, you will run back to the shopping area and put more stuff in the bag. Then on the last day, you get to settle up and find that you have spent $300+ . They take credit cards. Enjoy. They also give you a syllabus containing most everything that they talk about with a place for extra notes. They also have many breaks, or just standing up for a minute to stretch. Bring your many books that each has written and they will autograph each one. You will love it. Judy in AZ

I went to the one in Glens Falls NY last year and LOVED it. (I wanted to go to Buffalo to see them but couldn't make it.)

Learned a lot, had a lot of fun, well worth the time and money.

Sharon, it is worth every penny and then some! My sister and I went when the seminar was in southern California in 2007, we had to stay at a motel. Even paying for the hotel and meals out, it was well worth the money and so much fun!

They had a huge video screen so you could see up close what was being demonstrated. We were up in the "nosebleed" section ( our choice) and could see everything on the screen very well.

I just got confirmation that I am going to the Ocala Super Seminar with Ricky, Alex and Libby.  I am soooooo looking forward to it. I just put a new(used) trombone on my credit card for my son. He is helping to pay it off by giving me his tip money from his pizza delivery job. I may have to do some financial finagaling (is that a word?) so I can spend money at the seminar!! Sandi in FL

I attended the super seminar in Mesa, Arizona in December and feel like it was the best $$$ I have spent in a long time. So much information from such wonderful people. It was inspiring. If you like to laugh be prepared to giggle a lot. Ricky, Alex and LIbby make it all fun. You only need that camera-don't forget it, and your favorite pen. Oh and your credit card because you will want to purchase some items. I hope to attend another one some day. Go and have the best time.

Sharon, I attended the one in Glens Falls, New York last year and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Ricky is a master teacher, and speaking as a retired teacher myself, those are no idle words. He's well organized and uses such a variety of presentation techniques including great visuals on a big screen, you couldn't possibly get bored. The handout materials are very well done. Alex and Libby are a perfect balance to Ricky, so the whole thing works beautifully. Each of them presents their material with such humor and enthusiasm that learning is fun.

In addition to all the quilting knowledge you'll get, Ricky's concert was an absolute delight -- not only beautiful music, but the most wonderfully entertaining stories that the evening flew by.

You'll certainly get your money's worth, and you definitely have the feeling that they are working very hard to see that you do get your money's worth from the event. A great value in these hard economic times.
