    breast cancer awareness

I signed up for this yesterday and thought it worthy to share with you all. armyofwomen.org is signing up women to be part of the research to find out why women get breast cancer. I've never had to deal with breast cancer (knock on wood) and signed up in the hopes that my daughter also won't have to deal with it. It doesn't cost anything to sign up and there's no obligation to participate in a study, but maybe you'll be able to help end this disease.

Thank you, Tina, for posting this very important link.

At the moment regular checkups are still the best way to beat this type of cancer and survive it.

Yes, regular check ups are important. This is breast cancer awareness month. Remember--regular mammograms after the age of 40, annual clinical breast exams and monthly self breast exams. Until we do figure out exactly what causes it, early detection is our best bet.

I have been getting regular mammograms. The last one showed an abnormality as did the biopsy. I had a lumpectomy a month or so ago. Fortunately no invasive cancer, just precancer cells. I have started my 2nd (of 5 total) week of radiation therapy since I would be at very high risk for breast cancer.

In my case those mammograms did their job and caught it early! Call and schedule yours if you haven't had one for awhile.

I decided to add a little pink ribbon to my quilt labels this year just as a reminder. Or maybe somewhere in the quilting design.

I got a mammogram reminder call from Ellen DeGeneres. She is part of a program to call thousands daily, called One a Day Wake up Call.

Lorna, so glad you caught things early! I have a self exam reminder hanging in my shower that my doctor gave me. It really helps me remember.
