    Can you recommend a site...

where some friends and I can get away together yet each do our thing in the crafting/quilting world.

We're from all around the country and anyplace will be considered. We're looking for someone else to do the cooking and cleaning; for space and possibly supplies for our endeavors (even if it means going to town to shop for them!), and un-scheduled time in which we can laugh, craft, sew and visit. The three of us who are starting this have interests ranging from basketweaving, to quilting, to drawing, beading and miscellaneous other art-sy stuff...but we don't all enjoy all the same things. I've been checking out retreats, etc, but most of them concentrate on a single activity , and schedule too much of the day for too much money.

Hoping for this fall, and preferably someplace not too hot...

Hi Kate, Sounds like loads of fun....what part of the Country do you have in mind? And what season of the year?

This place is just outside of Rockport, TX, and is a great place for a retreat. We also have a very nice quilt shop in town, and plenty of restaurants.

Pat in Rockport, TX who would offer a tour of antique sewing machines and a 23 year fabric collection.

          Hi Kate,

We have a wonderful place here in Michigan called Thunder Bay Resort:

It is a very popular destination for groups of all sizes.

Here's one in rural, southwestern Wisconsin that operates year round:

I haven't been there yet, but have a weekend coming up with my sister in August that I'm really looking forward to. Although most of the attendees are quilters, her newsletters also mention scrapbooking, jewelry and other crafts.

Hey come to Colorado -- I will be happy to show you around -- but Estes Park is a great retreat area -- in the mountains. Or perhaps LaVeta with Ricky. I am sure he would do a retreat -- he does have retreats several times a year.
