Ricky Tims seminar
I just sent off my registration to a Ricky Tims seminar in Glens Falls, New York. That's only a couple of hours away from my home!!! It's not until a year from now but I'm so excited.(Hopefully there is still an opening for me.) I never thought anything like that would be close enough for me to attend. Has anyone else attended one? And does anyone know any great hotels near the civic center in Glens Falls?Happy Quilting,

I attended one of the first ones, a few years ago, and loved it. I intend to attend another one when it's close enough. I've misplaced the notebook that came with the class, though, and it's very worrisome. I hope it didn't grow legs and walk off when I had an open house for quilters a few months ago. One or two other items went missing, too, which was very sad for me. Usually quilters are such good folks, and now I know there's at least one that bears watching, but I have no idea which one it is.

I just sent mine for the one in Livermore, CA, next January. That's the only one within striking distance for me without flying, which I avoid whenever possible. It will be a 12-hr drive, but I'll make a mini-vacation out of it (love the Mojave Desert). I'm also hoping I got in before it fills up; fingers crossed!

I've yet to hear anything but raves about the Super Seminars and I'm so looking forward to attending the one in Livermore next January; can't wait!
A question for those who have been - is there any type of hand-out material that accompanies the information presented? I have terminal CRS and find that taking notes makes me miss a lot 'cause I can't right fast enough - not legibly anyway. Or are tape recorders and/or cameras permitted?
TIA for any info. Did I mention I can't wait for January?

Well, (Curious) George and I finished his "The Quilt Show" nametag yesterday... his introduction to fusing... We're both excited about Richmond, but he was SO excited last night he couldn't fall asleep... still awake at about 1 am!! Needless to say, he was keeping ME awake (barely) with him, so I hope we can get some sleep tonight & tomorrow or they might find me dozing during the program! Oh no!

I, too, have been looking at the Glens Falls seminar. The only thing holding me back is that I've haven't found anything good to say about the hotels in the area. Does anyone have any information about a good place to stay? All the searchs I did on the Internet about hotels came up with some very bad reviews.

I'm just back from the seminar in Richmond and it was fantastic! I admit I had pretty high expectations, but they were not only met, but exceeded. Content aside, it was one of the best-run seminars of any variety I've ever attended -- Ricky runs a tight ship, and simultaneously stays on time, covers everything, and still allows for a lot of lighthearted moments and general fun. He, Libby, and Alex just lit up all the creative parts of my brain -- I felt like I was just buzzing with new things to try and new ideas for my quilts.
I genuinely feel that this experience is something I will look back on as a watershed moment that changed my quilting in a positive direction permanently. They were all such cheerleaders for quilting, and the fact that they all work so differently gave me a variety of points of view.
So: if you can get to one of these seminars, by all means, do it! Even if you don't consider yourself an art quilter, even if you don't feel like you need to learn anything new, do yourself and your quilts a favor and go. You won't be sorry. Ricky even offers a 100% refund if you get to the end of the seminar and decide it wasn't worth it. I'd be really surprised if anyone took him up on it.
