Rhapsody confusion
I know I'm coming into the whole Rhapsody Reality thing WAY late.. I just found it a couple days ago. So now I've watched all the videos, and I just realized there hasn't been a new one in a LOOOONG time. Am I missing something? The last one I saw was when Ricky fused the basket pieces. I was looking forward to seeing how he actually pieced the background pieces.. Help? :?:

Hello Daisy!! If you look at episode 312 Ricky shows how he stitch the applique to the background using double blanket stitches. But, I think you will find that you can stitch the applique down any way YOU want. What kind of applique-method do you like??
If you are really into the idea of doing a Rhapsody I recomend Rickys Rhapsody book...and his DVD "Grand finale". Grand Finale is by the way my all time favourite when it comes to quilting. I learned a lot form it that can be implemented in any quilt

Thanks Brink, I will definitley get the book soon. I am so bummed about not being able to purchase series anymore.. I had 1 and 2, and I planned to get 3.. I like to watch them in a marathon sitting LOL.. So I waited too long and they changed it. so Now I can't see any of the series 3 ones.. bummer!

OOOppps thats to bad Daisy  But; when you start sewing the appliques down (if using the blanketstitch) you will soon see that you need to do something to get those inner-and outer corners looking ok. When I was doing the applique it didnt take long for me to see I needed to make sure it looked nice. I used over 30 hours on the applique only, and when using that amount of time I did not want to make it look like rubbish when it was done :P
Try out on some small testpieces  And by the way its your quilt so you decide on what and how to do it

There is a great little project in Ricky's book Rhapsody Quilts that is an excellent exercise for the blanket stitch and getting the inside and outside corners - its mostly practice and listening and watching your machine needle - I have the dvd also and learned tons more from watching that - I probably have viewd it 5-6 times <G>! I am finishing one now that I bought as a kit (before I found the book and dvd) and its a mess - the directions were poor and its warped but I will finish it anyway and learn from all the mistakes. Then will try another and it should be better!

I was just about to ask the exact same question re the blog!! I have just spent the past week or so watching all the way through to find it's all fallen off the cliff! NO FAIR RICKY!! :? It's over a year now.
Series Three has just come out and this site won't accept my card so I have little hope of buying anything else. I'm sure it will be accepted when my membership comes up for renewal again though.
Still, at least Alex posts regularly even if we do have to count nose hairs. :lol:Lyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio

Hi Daisy,
If you ever get to take a Ricky Tims workshop, you should. With the workshop, he covered all of his techniques (i.e., Chantal, Rhapsody, Convergence, Kaleidescope, etc.), and provided a binder full of information so you don't need to take many notes. Oh, and you get a concert!Lyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio
