Disappointed
I'm not disappointed in Convergence quilts, just mine. What do I do now? I'm not sure applique would help. I can't post any pics-we're having computer problems again.
I love the way these quilts are made and how easy it is. I'm just not happy with my first convergence.
Should I just chalk it up to experience and make another one? How do you get the 2 big corners to look the way you want?

Don't worry..... I didn't like mine either! I got some of my strips turned around and ended up with a lay out I didn't intend. I put on a small border, bound it and called it good. My next one I will be more careful with fabric placement and invest in more borders.
The piece has grown on me and I look upon it fondly now and remind myself it was my first time. I'm glad I finished it!

At least you tried it and I'm sure your next one will be better. The first quilt of any size that I finished was to be used as a table cloth and I was very disappointed in everything but the pattern and I love 9-Patch blocks. It is now in a basket under the table in the living room and the cat sleeps on it (when he is not sleeping on the dining room table on whatever I am currently working on).

I was disappointed with my first convergence and the second and the third and to date (out of at least 100) I would say I start out being disappointed about something in at least 75% of them. Either I thought my fabric choices were off or that I should have had more (or less) contrast, more (or less) pattern, wider (or narrower) strips or border at infinitum. but I know first of all I am way too critical of my own work and also that I have to let something sit for a while so I can think about what it needs.''
Let your quilt talk to you. If you open your mind to the "what if's" and try different orientations Turn it on its side or upside down from what you planned and see what happens
And just remember quilting is a journey not a destination so maybe this is just a slight detour and soon the road will open and you can finish it (or not - if you have learned alll it can teach you then give it to someone else to finish or set it in that never to be finished stack that we all should have that is wisdom straight from Ricky's mouth to my ears -- ) but take pride in the fact that you tried and don't give up on convergences they are wonderful and my quilting would not be the same if I hadn't learned about them.

Eileen- my first one wasn't my favorite either. Loved the process, but I had wished for more color and contrast in the fabrics I chose. I have made several since, (not nearly as many as Ann!), and each one is a bit of a surprise. There's always more fabric to try again!!

Eileen.......Ditto to everyone's encouraging remarks, but to get back to your question about getting the big corners to look like you want...start out by laying out your four fabric squares...favorite or theme fabric at the top left corner, next favorite contrasting fabric in the bottom right corner,or vice-versa (favorite bottom right, next fav. top left) and proceed to follow the general directions for sewing together.
Remember not all tries have to be finished...just go on to the next one and enjoy the process!

Eileen, I really like it, and I'm definitely not an 'orange' person. My suggestion for the borders would be to have the print and solid fabrics on opposite corners. I hope that makes sense.
Thanks for posting the photo. I wish I could be so 'bad'!!!
