Your rhapsody quilt is wonderful. I agree it would be a good idea to enter it in a contest. A real winner.

You guys with your beautifully executed Rhapsody quilts do make me a bit jealous! I know we all have the same 24 hours in our day, but some of you just make more use of it! ha

Thank you all for the kind words. I sent of pictures of the quilt to the Road to California show. It wasn't quilted at the time, so I'm not sure if it will qualify, but if it gets accepted I will hear back in early December. I've never ented a show and figure if it doesn't get into this one, there are plenty of others.

I'm going to start working on a second one shortly. It's a house warming gift for a good friend. I'm going to use a mix of Cherrywood fabric and some of my hand dyes. I have to say, if you haven't tried making one these quilts, you really should. I think I said this before, it was one of the most enjoyable quilts I've made. It isn't terribly difficult and the design really lends itself to creativity. Leave it to Ricky!

Your quilt is lovely and deserves to win a prize. It is also inspiring me to get busy. Since we've quit going on trips for a while, now, maybe, I will get busy on my own Rapsody that I have started. Too much running around since June to get much quilting done. Good luck on your show entry. Let us know.

I have been really looking forward to making a Rhapsody, but had some other quilts in work that I needed to finish first.

Then it dawned on me..... I have been auditioning borders for the Bella quilt that I am working on (a paper pieced pattern inspired from Italian floor tiles) but none of the conventional borders seem to be the turn on that I was looking for.

And then the light bulb turned on..... I designed a Rhapsody-esque border for it! YEAH! I am so happy that I didn't have to be patient anymore waiting to start a Rhapsody.... I am trying out some of the technique on my current quilt.

I ran out of some of the core fabric over the weekend, so was at the LQS looking for something complimentary to replace this fabric in the border. I hope to have the top completed in the next 10 days!

Congratulations Mary Kay, sounds like the perfect solution. Isn't it wonderful when you have one of those Ah-Ha moments? Your bella, bella quilt is so beautiful and I can't wait to see what you've come up with. Deb

I've spent the last two days locked in my sewing room making templates and cutting out fabric. I'm happy to say that I've cut out all the background peices for my second rhapsody... Whoo Hoo!!!! (I posted a picture in personal photos) This is a gift for a special friend and I'm hoping it will come out great. Some of the shapes are odd and I have to say, I've been stairing at for a bit, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do in each block. Would love some suggestions. Thanks. -- Deb

My Rhapsody is not finish yet, but I am still thinking about it. I need a new approach for the next stage. The reason for my message is that I just want to send you all my best wishes.

                              Merry Christmas, Duffy!!!

Well, I got the 4 "Rhapsody-esque" corners finished yesterday (what a wonderful Christmas sitting in my quilt room/hubby close by watching tv and me finishing up the corners!!!) They turned out well and do nice job framing the Bella.

Now on to designing the art in the corners (some open space calling for some reproduction of the center medallion), which will be a machine applique/embroidery combo...... And I am going to wait to attach the corners until I have these designs in place.

I was looking at my blogs the other day and LAUGHED when I realized that I started the Bella almost a year ago and this thing has taken on such a life of it's own.... As a reread the blogs, I kept thinking that finishing was right around the corner and then POW - the quilt is calling for something else.

                              Funny how that happens!

I know that one Mary Kay. I seem to never be able to get finished. I've become somewhat superstitious about predicting when a quilt will be finished. It almost guarantees it won't get done when I said it will. But looking forward to seeing what you are doing with the Bella.
