Just checking it out again to see whether it works or not... I went to private messages and sent two PMs out to friends (one in the continental United States [CONUS] and one overseas). The member overseas is not online right now so probably has not seen my PM yet; but the one in CONUS and I have gone back and forth a few times and it appears the private message system works! So thank you for getting that part of TQS up and running again! I hope the fact that it is working is a fair assumption on my part and that you're not actually in the process of making it work and want us to stay out of PM until you give the ALL CLEAR! :cheer:

I think I sent a few PM but I have no way of knowing if they really went. I notice when my picture appears in the Forum threads there is no cloud by my name. I did nothing to indicate that I didn't want to get private messages and I can find nothing in my profile where I might be able to change that. How did that happen?

Lois, you are not going to find a "cloud" by your own name, only next to other members that you might want to send a PM to.

I had a cloud when the changeover happened but it has disappeared.
Can anyone tell what the smilies mean....some of them are self explanatory but others are just symbols.
Please excuse any spelling mistakes but it's late at night and I should be in bed.

I recieved a pm from both Renata and Nancy but when I tried to reply nothing happened. No window opened in which to write a response. This sure is complicated. I liked getting an email response to my private messages. This is difficult. Or maybe its still not working.

Hi Lois -
If you go back to your profile and to the messages there, click on the message you want to reply to. Below your message will be a place for you to put in your reply. There's your avatar on the left and a button on the right that says something like "Add Reply". Between those, there's a text area. On my browser, I can't see a box or anything, but when I click in the right place I get a vertical bar cursor and then I can type in text. Type your replay and then click the "Add Reply" (or whatever it is) button, and your reply should be sent. At least, that seems to have worked for me.

I think this worked. I found the cursor and wrote a message and when I hit add reply it disappeared. Hopefully it went back to the sender.

It seems that "PRIVATE MESSAGE" functionnality is a little different than on the previous website. When I received a message from the previous website, if I hit reply, I would send a reply to the email address of the sender. Not TQS like it is doing presently. Unless there is another hidden button I don't know about?

I've had to go to the message on my profile page and send a reply from there. Then it goes to the person. I think it's because they are keeping track of the entire message trail on the profile and they wouldn't have a record of the reply it it went straight to the person's email. That's just my guess.
