Your 4-in-1 Essential Tool, a hit in Rome
Hi Alex,
Wanted to share this fun little story. DH and I just got back from a short visit to see friends in Italy. I had made something for them, and needed to do some finish work there, since I ran out of time at home. One of the tools I brought with me, was your 4-in-1. Everywhere I happened to pull my sewing out to work on it, your tool got as much notice as my sewing project did! Now, granted, my friend Donatella and her friends and family are not sewers, but they had apparently never known of sewing tools that did any of the four functions that yours does. It got passed around, and exclaimed over like crazy! My Italian vocabulary has a long way to go, so imagine me trying to mime and use sound-effects to explain the use of the four parts of the tool! I wanted to try to find a quilting shop in Rome, but our time was too full with her 20th Wedding Anniversary and family gatherings, and getting their daughter to tennis lessons
I know you and many others on TQS are world travelers... I find myself wondering how different the sewing notions in-use are, in all the different countries!
Ciao!

Whatever sewing, crafting, hobby, or whatever shop I'm in anywhere, I always go through the notions wall, cabinet, spread first, and I almost always find something. What they all have in common however, is that many of them had been imported from the USA...
And I have two of the 4-in1 tools, one sitting on my sewing machine... And one in my on-the-go Baggie. Because they can be used for so many things! Will have to get another one when I'm in the San Francisco in march...Lotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland

Alex, shucks, you're welcome! Thanks for designing such a USEFUL tool! And Lotti, what an interesting tidbit... that most notions you find are imported from the U.S.A. I didn't expect that!
I wonder who else might have similar far-flung quilty-notion stories to tell?
BTW, I lived in Sunnyvale, CA from 1999 - 2008, but I wasn't quilting then. In fact I hardly touched my sewing machine except to make drapes and cover a futon. My hubby used to bicycle over to Livermore and back, hitting Mt. Hamilton to make things interesting, lol. NOW I am noticing so many here on TQS are local to that area,... wow, the workshops I could have attended! Ah, the lost opportunities...

Oh yes, that is a very useful tool. Mine was a gift from another TQS member, and it gets used several times a year in the bathroom!.... My central heating boiler is in the bathroom and when I want to change the times when the heating comes on, I have to press a tiny little button that sits below the surface. The stiletto part of the tool is perfect for pressing it down. In school we would call this 'cross-curricular use of resources'.
