Thank you for your quick response. One of the reasons I prewash is to shrink the fabric.

Hand quilting frame.........
Alex,
I have searched high and low for a reasonably priced hand quilting frame. I would like something that does not have the metal rails with the plastic tube for attaching. I have not had good luck with these in the past. Is there a pattern for your pop-pop's frame that you can share?
Thanks.............SharonLivermore, California, USA near San Francisco

Oh, thank you Alex. I can see from the glimpses you show of your frame that he is correct in reference to the tools. However, I think that we could adapt some things to be more generic. We would just need the specifics as to size and maybe (just maybe) you could to a segment on your handquilting classroom that shows the frame not loaded and what the parts of it are and are for. That way we could improvise................ Just a thought! Love your class btw!!!!

In Alex's hand-quilting classes (lesson 19) she mentions a cheap version that can be made with two saw-horses. I can't imaging that her father's one would be cheap, the wood is very handsome and it is so beautifully turned. I think there could be quite a few would-be 'Pop-Pop's' out there who would be willing to try his design out in their garages. My DH's grandfather took to carpentry and tapestry when he retired from the Navy and we still have all his tools. I would bet that there are lots of other men out there with a lot more tools in their garages than they admit to. I buy quilting fabrics etc., and he buys power tools!
Alex I implore you to entreat your father to pass on his knowledge - I am trying to be emphatic here for greater dramatic effect :!: :!:
