I liked learning to piece the star the best, but I was also learning a lot about the drafting of quilt patterns even though it wasn't perfect to see. I haven't seen one in years, but there used to be pens with special ink that looked like regular ink but could be easily erased. Does anyone know if they are still made? Would that work or would some dark colored pencil work? I wish we could solve this problem, because I need the most help in learning to plan quilting (I machine quilt because my quilting time is microscopic).

I got alot out of both classes too. Sorry not to help you narrow it down but I agree with everyone else. I'm sure to learn something valuable from whatever you teach so have the freedom to do what you like to teach.

Actually, there is one suggestion I would like to make (putting tongue firmly into cheek): Future videos get recorded at my place.

How about a class about how to put colors together? I'm sure there are some members who will not be purchasing the kit and it would be nice to have some tips about choosing colors for the 2009 BOM!

I encourage folks who are having difficulty with choosing colors to go to their LQS and pick out a multicolor print that they love, then carry the bolt around the store and find fabrics that are the colors in the print--you know that the colors will look nice together since you love them in the multicolor print. And you can choose fabrics that are the same color but a shade or two lighter or darker than the one in the print, and that will also work nicely. Try this method and see if it works for you.

Pat, that's pretty much the way I do it, except that I start by seeing what I already have in my stash that will work with the focus fabric that I chose! And I don't look for fabrics that MATCH the colors in the focus, but instead look for fabrics that "play nicely" with it and I look for different scales and visual textures to add interest. I'm looking forward to seeing if Alex comes up with some good visual tips for us!

                              Excellent idea, Pat!

I sometimes keep postcards or pictures from magazines that I like because of the colours, and then use them to put together a range of fabrics for a project.
