    quilt labels

I've been asked by my guild to find out if there is a rule regarding where the quilt label is placed. On the left or right side? If you enter a quilt show does that make a difference? Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks, Cynthia

    #2
The rules in our quilt show is the lower left corner. I guess I never really thought about it, if you quilt it into the quilt and are planning on entering it in more than one show, what do you do if the requirements are different?

I think you can just add another label if the one you already have isn't what they require. I doubt if they'd want the other one removed. I usually place my labels where there is something I want to hide! Center, left or right. I like to sew it into the binding, so a corner seems more secure.

My guild says when you have the back face up, the label has to be in the lower right hand corner and you have to cover it with the number they provide so that nobody knows who made the quilt while it's being judged.

I also just place the lable were i want. So it will be easier to use the quilt design to secure the label. This way it is much harder to remove the label..

Those labels are wonderful, aren't they? I usually put mine on the bottom right of the backing. I've had to use a piece of muslin to cover my label for a few shows.

I normaly place my label were I think it should be. Or to cover someting up. Like once I had a traponto and well it needed more batting and the quilt was quilted so I just cut a hole in the back and filed out the traponto and put the label over were I cut the hole and no one can see it was not meant to be there lol. Btw the Quilt made it to a Quilt show in 2007. I did not win but that was not the purpos of entering the quilt. It was to find out were I had to emprove my things.

Thanks for all the help. I usually put my label in the bottom right corner, when the back it facing me. I'll pass along the info to my guild.
