Canada - new Quilting Magazine
First issue ever, is currently available. It is called "Quilter's Connection".
I haven't seen at the newsstands but they have a website http://www.quiltersconnection.ca .

Yes, I know this is a very old thread, but I have subscribed to this magazine and I have to say I like it almost as much as Quilt Life! I also like the advertizing and I can check out Canadian suppliers as well as American. Plus they give a listing of all the local quilt shows which surprises me on how many there are really close to home. This one and Quilt Life are my 2 must have magazines. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

I was surprised at the cost for the US but it's the shipping costs. Our postage here is outrageous! If I have to mail anything to the US I go across the border to mail it, and most of my parcels are sent by bus. The small parcel service that the US has doesn't exist here. a small parcel starts about $10.95 plus taxes.Deborah W

My goodness -- I had no idea. I mailed a parcel to a friend in Canada and it was a gift. I put right on the package that it was a gift but she told me they charged her an additional fee to get it. It would be wonderful if the magazine would sell an online edition! Then there would be no shipping costs. I wonder if magazines can be read on an IPad. I don't have one yet but it would be nice if it did because then you could read it anywhere.Originally posted by LauraBCI was surprised at the cost for the US but it's the shipping costs. That happened to me once when I got a gift from the US. I complained at the Post Office when I picked it up. They said to call the Canadian Customs Service which I did. I was told to send them the label where gift was indicated and the receipt of what I had to pay and they refunded me the money. They said sometimes mistakes are made!Originally posted by ladyquilterI mailed a parcel to a friend in Canada and it was a gift. You should tell your friend, that there are instructions on the back of the receipt which gives the number to call to inquire. BTW, the value of the gift has to be under $60 to not be charged duty.TTFN from Judy

Just a very late update on this topic. Quilter's Connection is NOT the first quilting magazine for Canadians. There was Canada Quilts for many years and of course our own Canadian Quilter's Association has their quarterly magazine that keeps you up to date on what's happening around the country.
