My first thought on what to do was a memory of my grandfather and I fishing. I was an adult and we were fishing--he was always watching my bobber to see if I had a fish. I knew this and I would look off away from my bobber and tug on my line. It made it look like I was getting a bite. Then he would ask if I was going to haul in the fish on my line and I would assure him I didn't have one. This would go on for a few minutes--me tugging and him nagging--and then I would pull in my line to show him that my bait hadn't been touched. We had fun. I wish I were a artist as this it the memory I would want to depict in cloth.
Guess, I better get the thinking cap on.
Hey Wendy, I didn't know that you had made that hat you wore to the wedding. I am truly impressed. Well done.

Ritzy, My broken elbow is coming along quite well. After 2 wks the orthropod said my recovery was coming along far better than expected. The crack was in the joint so they don't immobilize unless it's displaced. It wasn't. Instructions were to move it as much as possible. I did because I was so fearful of it becoming frozen. After 2 wks the doctor assured me there was little I could do to displace the fracture so instructions were to keep moving and gradually increase weight and force used. He said if I lifted something too heavy it would ache for days. He was right. Fortunately, I learn my lesson by not going too far beyond my limits. At this point, I can do anything I need to in the sewing room. Still not up to doing yard/garden work. Too bad. So at this point, the injury is providing me with more sewing time. Doctor expects full recovery. Still can't completely bend or straighten the arm. I keep trying. Right now I am FMQ one of my Laura Nowns Quilts. I made 2. The manuvering and repositioning the quilt requires just the kind of stretching of my arm and rotating of my wrist and hand for proper therapy. Sounds like just the right kind of medicine for a quilter. I am doing fine.

well, I just need someone who can draw. If I can see it, I can make it. And since I have already told you all about this, I wouldn't do it for this challenge but I would love to do it. I wish I had a picture of grandpa and I fishing--then I would be able make it.

Not so brave. I would not go out in public without a sling on my arm hoping it would say loud and clear "Don't bump into me!" I never went to the grocery store without the sling because I didn't want to appear stupid when I ask the produce attendant, "Would you please place that water melon in my cart?" I also learned that by wearing a sling to the grocery store the sidewalk attendant would offer to roll my cart to the car and place my purchases in the trunk. Just so you know, get all the help you need should you be injured. Also, immobility could end your quilting career. A few years ago I broke a number of bones in my right hand. It took many, many months of rehab to get my hand unfrozen. I was not willing to go there again. They crazy glued hooks, as in sewing hooks and eyes, to my fingernails, attached a brace to my wrist and used fish line to force my fingers to bend again. I had learned first hand what immobility could do to arthritic hands. I wasn't going to go there again. For a very long time I would knit daily, not because it was my first fiber love, but because it gently forced my fingers to maintain a gentle curve. Presently, I can do every thing I need to do sewing-wise but it has taken lots of work and I was not about to loose that ability. Remember what Ricky says, time is the greatest gift you have been given. Lois says, Do whatever it is you can do today because you never know what tomorrow brings. Do what you love. Enjoy it everyday. Share it with those you love. Tomorrow, you might not be able to finish what you've started today. If you have any question about what I say, that's okay because I am really sermonizing to myself.
