I'm glad that you like it! And I'm excited that I now feel confident piecing New York Beauty blocks. (Terrie's mug rug was also a New York Beauty, but I think she hasn't had a chance to post it yet.) I've had one of those quilts in my future for quite a while now, and now that I can piece the blocks it's getting a little closer.

Congratulations on the blue ribbon too!
I wanted to let Mary know that she inspired me to do some hand embroidery and was surprized she wanted to share it. Thank you.

Thank you ladies. OK--I made this just like I made all my other mug rugs. Actually, this was the practice for the one I did for Limbania. I used Kona Jet black cotton, Pel-Tex instead of batting(a little hard to work through--my little fingers got a work out), same fabric on the back. After all was put together, I machine quilted it. The binding is a rayon ribbon that I liked and didn't know what I would use it for. It worked really well with the colors I had used. The thread was #8 pearl cotton. Quilting thread was Superior's Bottom Line in black.

Wendy--Margo told us that if we turn our heads to the side, it helps to see the quilting correctly. Try it--it works.

            Great muggies Terrie and Nancy.

It did, I looked sideways and squinted. Thanks for the tip

Maybe if you close one eye and stand on your head? Oh, wait--that only works for Kathy.
Let me explain before you ask--Kathy tells me to stand on my head--anytime I say anything is wrong. :P

Yes, I have a beautiful beauty, and I love, it. I have to post a couple of pics tomorrow. I'm getting very distracted with the portrait class , sorry. ops: Too much multi-tasking.

No worries! I know you've been busy. I'm just excited that I've been able to make 2 pretty good New York Beauty blocks. I've always loved them but have been a bit afraid to make them.

                          Ritzy,
Your embroidery piece is absolutely stunning. I've worked with that stabilizer material on my machine and it was a bear then so I can't imagine working with it by hand with all those spectacular stitches!!

Beautiful New York Beauty! When I first saw it, I thought it was one square of fabric with a binding on it. The seams and the stitching are incredible! Thanks, Nancy (Rehak)
