Rosemary, Ritalin is the name of a medication given for attention deficit disorder, Rit is the dye.Originally posted by PosyPWhereas I used Dylon & salt and did my dying in plastic bags with a clippet to hold it shut. I think the american equivalent is ritalin (sp?) I was just careful counting how many spoons of each colour went into each bag for my shading.
Although, there are so many of us quilters/dyers that seem to have wandering minds that maybe they can make a product called Rit-alin that will dye fabric and be absorbed thru the skin of the dyer to keep you on task!
Kudos to Rita for her newest, gorgeous mug rug, and congrats to Rosemary that it will making its home with her!
And please, ladies, let's put an end to all this "high standards" talk! We're all doing them for fun, maybe to try a new technique in a bite size project, and to SHARE a bit of ourselves with each other. It's such a thrill to know that something that came out of my sewing room has found a home across the country, or across the pond...gives me goose bumps, really. And to RECEIVE one of these creations is thrilling beyond description!

Well I was pretty close for the name :P and considering how some of these threads meander perhaps we need some ritalin after all :wink:Originally posted by gynconnieRosemary, Ritalin is the name of a medication given for attention deficit disorder, Rit is the dye.Originally posted by PosyPWhereas I used Dylon & salt and did my dying in plastic bags with a clippet to hold it shut. To funny Connie. And Thanks for the reminder of standards. All the marvelous "muggie" rugs are sooooo cool. I'm a wee bit scared and shakey of FM quilting.

Just to make sure everyone understands the Setacolor. You can paint on dry or wet fabric. You can spray the fabric afterwards to make the color run a little bit. After drying flat you heat set the color with the iron and it's finished.
Soda ash is for Procion MX dyes and is needed to set those colors.
By the way, Sue, I love your painted piece and the butterflies. Bright colors on a grey and windy day

Or you could try ~ Tin, marín, de do, pingue, cúcara, mácara, titere fue, pégale, pégale, que esta merita fue! ~ Remember, in Spanish you pronounce the way you spell but, you have to roll the r and, watch the accents. :twisted:Originally posted by PosyPYou could always try '1 potato, 2 potato,3 potato, 4, five potato, 6 potato, 7 potato, more, 1 - bad - spud'

Okay, Limbania, but it rhymes in Italian:
Il pollice dice: Ho fame!
L'indice dice: Non c'è più pane!
Il medio dice: Lo compreremo!
L'anulare dice: Ce n'è ancora un pezzettino!
Il mignolo dice: Datelo a me che sono il più piccolino!
The thumb says: I'm hungry!
The index finger says: There's no more bread!
The middle finger says: We'll buy it!
The ring finger says: There's still a little piece!
The pink says: GIve to me me the, I'm the smallest!
