Love your "rare birds" mug rugs Rita. I am sure your parents were delighted with them and the lovely sentiments.

              Never heard of Pitt pens.

Thanks ladies. The Pitt pens are by Faber Castell. Here's a link to some information about them. You can buy them in sets of 6 or more. They are great on fabric because they don't bleed at all, are colourfast, lightfast, etc. The tip is like a fine brush so you do fine(ish) detail without a problem. I love them.

Looks like Rita forgot the link  I found info here and right now they are on sale, 43% off prize list, plus if you purchase $79 or more you get free shipping until 4/7/2012. http://www.dickblick.com/products/fa...st-pens/#items This is a USA website, not sure about shipping overseas but, worth checking.

I use the Pitt's Pens a lot...they are great for covering a little blob of thread on the back of your quilt--it just disappears from sight, for slightly changing the color on an embroidery that stands out wrong, for coloring along the edges of a raw-edge applique if made from a printed fabric so you can't see the lighter colored edge, for adding window pane frames on your house, for coloring in the stones on your stone path for your landscape quilt (see http://blog.bjfabricartist.com/2013/...pathway-9.aspx), for darkening the beard on your St. Joseph applique, for adding highlights and low-lights to your appliques...in short, I don't know what I would do without them. I have found that once I heat set them, they are very permanent. But you want to try them out first on your fabric, because the colors are somewhat influenced by what the base fabric or thread color is.

Never heard about those pens. Must investigate. You can never have too many of those sorts of things. (a few minutes later I can tell you that they have several different packets on Amazon UK)
