[quote="Reetzbobeetz"]Hi I am kind of new to the forum so I don't know if I would qualify as a 'lounge lizard'.... Me, Me, Me, please! Connie I would love to swap with you. Anyone else want a mug rug from Ireland? I would probably have to make June the deadline though. :? Lisa thanks for the link to all those gorgeous little mug rugs, they tipped me over the edge. I think I could probably manage six or eight.
Is this the singing Rita saying she is 'new' - well, if she's new, I'm just born. Where does this come from?? But I'd love a mug rug from the Emerald Isle. ......or, I have a feeling this is going so fast, that I'm just not keeping up.....Lotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland

     As everyone one else has mentioned, yes we have Crocus here; in fact they have been out in my garden for a while now. As Rosemary says the Snowdrops are the first ones out and I just love to see their little white heads, great to see on a frosty morning. I take it you love the Crocus so much you named yourself after themOriginally posted by crocus999Maureen, I'll swap with you. But I can't start production until the end of April when we have our guild quilt show.
Do you have Crocuses in Scotland?
I'll try to get some crocus fabric - that is my absolute favourite flower! Sturdy little guy who pokes his head up first thing in spring when all the other flowers are waiting, nope, not the crocus. He's first up and first out and a harbinger of better things to come. I remember my excitement when I saw my first crocuses - I went wild with excitement! The don't care that there is still snow on the ground, in a way they are like the forerunners, the first fruits, the pioneers..........okay, I'll stop waxing on about the oft forgotten Crocus. I can get very philosophical about them. Pushing up through the hard cold earth, in faith pushing through the dirt and cold and then bringing a cheerful 'hello', no sign of the struggle to 'become'...blah blah blah.....
Stop, Terrie
Hello. My name is Terrie, aka Crocus, and I am a swap-a-holic.

Terrie, I already have 9 on my list so I won't add any more until I see if I can get these done quickly. I would love to send one to you in Canada so if it's okay I will pencil you in for after June?
Lisa the photos are fabulous! We have crocuses popping their heads up here at the moment too. I agree with you Terrie about their sturdy determination to come through the hard ground in the coldest part of the year. They really do herald the arrival of spring.

What would you like from ol' England?
If Wendy had not posted the link somewhere else, I would have missed this altogether.
I'm in for three more if anybody wants me to get busy (the baby quilts will just have to wait).

You've obviously had a deprived childhood, if your mum didn't sing 'Two little dickie birds' to you. As for our other famous cricketing Dickie Bird - well he could be used as a design ideas source, I'll even give you a short resume of how to play cricket if you like :wink:Originally posted by suehenyonUh, what is a dickey bird? I Googled it and laughed my head off at the first image that came up. Dare you!
My family frequently refer to them as 'bickie dirds' just to add further confusion to this mayhem....

I was starting to get :? ! as I thought I knew what a dickey bird was....In my childhood it referred to
a small bird, singing bird, etc. like canary or parakeet....and the like. Don't 'member the tune
Tweety birds might be more common here? Could be birdies would be a good universal theme?

a bit of info i got from wikipedia:
A modern versions of the lyrics:
Two little dickie birds,
Sitting on a wall;
One named Peter,
One named Paul.
Fly away Peter!
Fly away Paul!
Come Back Peter!
Come Back Paul!
The rhyme was first recorded when published in Mother Goose's Melody in London around 1765.
In this version the names of the birds were Jack and Gill:
There were two blackbirds
Sat upon a hill,
The one was nam'd Jack,
The other nam'd Gill;
Fly away Jack,
Fly away Gill,
Come again Jack,
Come again Gill.
(These names seem to have been replaced with the apostles Peter and Paul in the 19th century)

To Mom's credit (God rest her soul), we had a variation...
Two little blackbirds sitting on a hill,
One named Jack
One named Jill
Fly away Jack
Fly away Jill
come back Jack
Come back Jill
I'd just forgotten this rhyme, that was a Long time ago
As for a cricketing Dickie Bird, what's that? I've never seen a whole cricket match, only bits and pieces in the movies.
