Here is the thread where I first announced them forum/everything-else/4933-ive-been-published They have been sitting in the editor's office for a couple of years now, and I am pleased to get them back at last.... I might even get on and finish the pulled work version I have been procrastinating with to give me some more to play with

Since this thread has been pretty quiet...I'm writing here today...not exactly quilt-y  ,
but I'll call it inspiration ...   Anybody recognize the purple flower in the pot ??
DH doesn't know and neither do I...might be a noxious weed for all we know...but it's pretty !
My garden is rustic but I spent a while knitting on a prayer shawl for a friend who has difficulties
out on the deck this morning and thought its color combinations really wonderful . The picture doesn't
do it justice !! Washed out in the sun. Just thought I'd share !! Mother Nature does the best combos !!
We don't plan much !

          Hi Marilyn,
It might be a ( Centaurea )common name Knapweed, whatever it is it is very pretty and a lovely colour.

Anne...Thank you ...on investigating...I'd say it is Meadow Knapweed....It is classed as a noxious and invasive
specie...The one we see more often here is a different one...yellow or pink and other shapes of leaves.
I suppose the birdies brought this one to us....so will enjoy then destroy !! What a wonderful place the
Forum is...help with nearly any problem !!

Love your garden Marilyn and your weeds

I'm not too worried in my garden whether things are weeds. If I like them they stay especially the pretty yellow and orange poppies that multiply every year.

Definitely Knapweed. I have some in my garden in Dingle and I don't find it particularly invasive so I keep it because it's so pretty. Your garden is looking lovely Marilyn. We have had beautiful weather here for the past few days and all the plants are looking fantastic. Tomorrow I will take some photos and post - if the weather is good.

I'm glad you figured out what it is since I couldn't have helped you. Your garden is beautiful! My yard is completely natural and I leave everything as it is except that I've spent years pulling the big field of dandelions that was there when I moved in. I don't think they were natural for up here so felt okay with working my way through them. The odd thing that I have now is a wild raspberry plant that started up under the corner of the little deck leading to my front door. The stickers make it difficult to get through the bush and to my front door, but I think it's cool to eat the 3 or 4 berries that appear each year so I leave it there. I rarely have visitors, anyway!

Thanks for the bread Wendy! Have not come up for air but occasionally and have missed a lot of the Forum over the past few weeks. Worked very hard on Chinese Whispers in order to take five days out to visit my Mom in Ohio since I'd missed her birthday earlier in the year. Just got back and am back to CW. I've received a few more gorgeous mug rugs last week before leaving and I will try to post them by the end of the week. When I got home, Wendy's mug rug was waiting for me and I can't help myself... I have to keep stroking it because it is so beautiful!!! Thank you Wendy and I will do my best to post soon.

                      Back to CW!

                        you're welcome Renata.

Ohio sounds so exciting to visit, I'd love to see all these places that get dropped into conversations here. I might make Dingle one day, doesn't it sound magical. Belper sounds like indigestion

You just made me go and look up Belper Wendy. I wonder does the expression to 'work like a nailer' come from there? It seems that there were over 500 nail makers working in Belper before the industrial revolution. Here's an interesting little video I found. Let's all move to Belper.

I never heard that phrase, Rita, but I remember Wendy...posting some pics long ago of the
area and thinking that it was..for me.. a storybook place in England ! The buildings, the countryside
and all !! The kind of thing I see in my mind when reading !!
