Lots of happy stitches at your retreat Marilyn!!!
As for the practice quilt, here's my idea, well, more than one but, only a "workable" one though . It is a really nice quilt and my first thought was appliqué flowers and birds. Not enough time to finish it in the allotted time for the Chinise Whispers Challenge  (at least to me). Next I thought of a whole quilt trapunto style with wreaths, flowers and birds, on hand dyed multicolor fabric (colors from the sashing and border). Since I'm not that good at FMQ or any quilting for that matter, had to discard that idea too  . So, my final design would be based on the sashing and border, I really like the fabric colors in them. I would use floral fabrics in those colors to make diapering four patch blocks. A narrow border in a neutral, light color, and put a wide border with birds print fabric. The binding would be dark neutral. Hope all this makes sense
Like Maureen said, it's been quiet around here :? Are we playing hide and seek :?: What's everybody been up to?

I found a stitch of time to take a wee look at the forum. All your little quilts are great - lovely! Maureen, keeping you and your challenges in mind and prayer. Everyone is inspiring. Nice to check in on you all. I'm glad to be 'allowed' to look in at the Chinese whispers and have some thoughts in my head for #100, , but don't think they'll get onto paper of fabric....I like the idea of just practicing to get the creative juices flowing.
Been super busy with 'stuff', but tomorrow morning I'm off to a quilting retreat. Listen to me exhaling...............................aaahhhhhhhh hh! Just need to pack.

I actually played with the design of 1000201. I was stymied at first but after I got my idea I was afraid that my drawing skills were not good enough to convey the story I wanted to tell. But I struggled through that remembering what Ricky says about the pencil having two ends and that you are suppose to use both ends. Let me tell you I did lots of erasing but I was determined. It gave me another opportunity to work with a pigma pen and colored pencils. This time I used Derwert watercolor pencils and was disappointed in the intensity of the color. I liked the Inktense pencils better. These little blocks are 3" square. Here it is in need of a binding. The name of the quilt is: "Been There, Done That".

Love your little quilt Lois especially the bluebirds
Maybe it is the colours but it is very calming.
I am also off to a 4-day retreat on Monday but I can't take my CW with me
maybe my Spools or even my HST
Who knows, I will choose something at the weekend, too many ideas running around my mind at the moment. My sister is bringing her Candlewick quilt that she is making for her daughter. It looks fabulous

Hi Folks, sorry to be so quiet over the weekend - I was laid very low with a bad bad migraine which is just beginning to lift now. I didn't do anything physical with challenge quilt 200. When looking at it again last night I immediately thought of 'Birds in the air' because of the swirling wind effect of the quilting behind the bird. Would I have done another birds in the air quilt - probably not but I might have incorporated the block somewhere into the quilt. The quilting is really the thing that struck me more than anything so perhaps I would have had the tulips bending in the wind and a birds in the air border to represent the coming of summer and the return of the swallows.
Lois I love your little quilt - what a lot of work you have put into it.
Everybody enjoy your retreats, sigh!
Now I am off to look at the next quilt challenge.

Thanks for all the compliments. I guess I am embracing the challenges. I have been reading Pam Holland's blog in preparation for taking a class from her in Huston. I am chopping at the bit to try some of her techniques and these challenges are presenting the opportunity. I normally choose bigger more time consuming projects and so doing little ones is very much fun for me.
I have just looked at Limbania's Choice and I love, love, love all those colors. I am wishing I knew more about the names of traditional blocks. Does anybody know of a resource you can use to identify block patterns? Does anybody know the name of the blocks in this week's challange? Just curious.
