Replied in a hurry this morning ops: . Then as I was crawling about on my knees in the garden, fitting our tent for a sewn in groundsheet - it doesn't have one , but sure needs it! when it came to me  that perhaps you meant Embroideress Extrordinare, got there in the end

As for Flippin' 'eck = flipping heck = flaming hell.
Ee bah Gum = Oh my God

As an american friend was warned before coming over to England by a work collegue 'Remember they don't speak English over there :!: '

PS when I do inherit my mother's table cloth it will have to take second place to my old english style smock which I have had on the go for the last 31 years :P

I've just had a look at the Sottt's Show and Tell - see-quilts/show-and-tell-quilts/, where some delightful person has tidied out the non Sottt quilts that had appeared, but I get the feeling from this thread (& the others) that there are more than just 11 quilts coming together, PUHLEEEZE could everyone who is adding photos on the threads and sending in photos for the book also enter them onto the show & tell so we can drool over them all in one place.

          Thanking you

WOW!! I hadn't checked that in a while! Isn't it fun to see them all together! Please post your tops (quilted or not!) in the Show & Tell for us!!

Wow, I missed the notice about the book - I'll do my best to get my top finished by the deadline. Not completely out of the question, but a challenge, due to my broken arm! Working on a medallion arrangement that was progressing really well, when I broke my left humerus bone, up high near the shoulder - no cast, but I have to wear the sling and swathe contraption, for many more weeks. Fortunately I am right-handed. Going to give it my best attempt to get the top finished or close to, in time to email a picture. If I can make the Sept. 1 deadline, I think I could quilt and bind by Jan. 1. Good luck to everyone else working toward this project - can't wait to see it all together, with or without my quilt!

My top is together; just have to press and take pictures this weekend to send in for the Sept 1 deadline. My thought is that this is the closest I'll ever be to having one of my quilts seen in Houston....have no desire or plan to ever enter something there, but it would be neat to know that my Exchange quilt top was seen there with its international cousins! I too am madly piecing my top!! I have over 1000 pieces in mine and have sewn them all into 9patches to make construction easier. Yesterday, I sewed 1/4 of those into place. Today my goal is the next 1/4 and by weekend's end, the whole top should be done!!

Any guidelines or helpful tips for taking pics of tops? I can pin it to my design wall... will that do??

Michelle, you may find some helpful tips for photography here: http://www.hollyknott.com/stq/index.htm

In the meantime, YES! Photos of quilts pinned to the wall are much preferred over photos of quilts on the floor!!!

I too missed this posting so thanks to Shirley I will now try to work to get something in by the Sept. 1 deadline! Lois I love the story about the WIP. No more comments right now I need to get something thawing for dinner and get back to the sewing machine.

I'm almost done! With the top, that is. I'm glad I saw the daily blog post regarding Carol's wonderful idea for putting together a book. It will be great fun to see all the different HST's and the different ways they were used. The center of my quilt is pieced and now I'm working on the borders. This was taken last night but it looks different already...more has been added. Not a great photo...will work at getting a much better one when its done! Looks like I'll have a busy weekend.
