Oh excellent! That's a great purchase. I've been wondering how you two liked the blocks.
Thank you so much for all your work. I continue to have alot of fun with my HSTs.

Clara here. I wanted to open up a new topic to express my thanks to everyone who has opened up their heart and literally shared it with me. I have been blown away recently by notes, fabric, hugs, handmade items, and so many other amazing gestures just to say thank you to me. We shared a journey together with the Sisterhood of the Traveling Triangle Exchange that was unique and will always stay with me and many others.

I just received a box at tonight's TQS dinner that was filled with blocks from all over the world and states of the US. Even the box was handmade with poems inside, the lyrics to Sorting Queen and yes, a recorded version of Sorting Queen. (hint, the box was made by the same lady who made the hat) I can't seem to get my thoughts together right now to express the gratitude I feel. To Everyone who was involved in that project, sorting hat, cards, fabric, extra HSTs, handmade postcards, even a card for my hubby too, I say with my hand over my heart (not while I'm typing of course)... Thank you! Sniff.

I will write again, when I am at home and will post some photos to share. This was something I will cherish forever.

        Clara Lawrence aka Sorting Queen

          Dear Clare;

I am so glad you were surprised. You did sew much for us!! Thank you thank you again & again for all you and Debbie did. Can’t wait to see the quilts you make out of the blocks  I know they will be beautiful! I want to also see the posted ribbons won by the quilts you will create too !!
You both have earned, mine anyway, admiration & respect for taking on such a task as the Sisterhood HST Exchange, Bless you

              Well, it's on the machine....
Will it be finished by December 31st? Maybe!
How about an extension to January 31st?

              Comment

Leafy, there has been an extension, I believe the new date is May 1st. If this is wrong I know Margo or Carol will let us know.
                Your quilt is looking good.

Good Afternoon Everyone. I am waiting for my flight back home from Houston and had a little time to send a note. It sounds like a number of you are working really hard to get your HST exchange and Strip Exchange projects done. Well, I have some very good news for those of you that are afraid that you may not make the Jan. 1, 2012 deadline. IT HAS BEEN EXTENDED. Yes, that is correct. The deadline has been adjusted and the new revised date in May 1, 2012. So relax and take a deep breath. You will get them finished and you can still have them included in the S.O.S. HST/Strippers Keepsake book/DVD.

There were be an official announcement coming shortly on the Daily Blog and in the newsletter.

Wow leafy! That is a BIG quilt! I am woking on a very small HST quilt. I'll bet mine is easier to quilt than yours! But then, you will probably be done WAY before me! Looks really good! Thank you for showing us!

Yes, it's big...about 104" square; I didn't plan to make it that large, but the blocks were big. I used 700 HST's in it!
BTW, the rust-colored fabric around the edges has glow-in-the-dark stars!

Leafy, your quilt is really going to be beautiful. I was feeling so sorry for myself for 2 reasons. First, because I couldn't go to Houston and meet you all and second because there is no way I would be able to finish my quilt by Jan. 1st. Aaahhh,I feel so much better now. I'm quilting a challenge quilt and when I finish I can get started on my triangle quilt. It's gonna be fun!

Can someone make something besides a quilt and be in the book. A tote for example?

Mine was a table topper not a quilt so I would think anything goes. Not everyone made a quilt. Some made small wallhangings.
