Paula and Jean, I love both of your quilts. Jean, I have also chosen the Garden Path quilt to make. I have all of the pieces cut out, but have not started sewing yet. I still have a baby gift to finish. Hopefully by the weekend I will be able to start sewing. I will post when I have the top finished. Good wishes to all!

      Hi all,
We have been madly working on our quilts for the flood/cyclone victims and it seems we have enough donations of fabrics, wadding and backings to make 16 quilts.
I am downloading some photos of some of them for you to see, they are not all hst quilts as some of the donations were small panels, unfinished blocks, etc.
I need to keep working hard as DH goes in to hospital for bypass on 27/7 and after that I don't think I will have as much time to spend on sewing.....hmmm... perhaps I will, who knows.
Anyway here goes with the download...I have already tried once and server dropped out, I will only download 2 at a time and see how that goes.
      Cheers,
      Louise in Cairns

Here's the last 2 photos for today, more to come next week as we get them finished.
It has been fun to see how many different designs we can find using hst's.
The best part is that a new lady has joined us and she has a long arm quilter and has been teaching us how to use it, yippeeee!!! What fun and so quick too. That was the part of this project that I was not looking forward to - the quilting. Now they are getting finished a lot quicker. The first one of these 2 was done only with the batik hst's, it was the first one that I started and finished on my own, just needs the binding now.
          Cheers,
          Louise

Paula, your quilt is fabulous! When I first looked at the middle photo of it without the border, it almost looked like an optical illusion, like I was looking into a tunnel. WOW, it went to together beautifully for just picking up each HST one at a time. You are one free creative spirit!

Louise, your quilts are gorgeous and you are an inspiration to all of us!

And, Margo, you are the ultimate "Angel of Quilting Resources"! Your quilt is beautiful and I like what you did with the pinwheel border!

I, too, am struggling with improving my machine quilting skills and I agree with everything that has been previously stated about machine table height, width, length, etc. However, Margo's telling us about making time to practice machine quilting is very important and right on. The more we practice, the more we can kick our fear about our less-than-perfect-stitches out the door! My favorite part of making quilts is the designing and piecing, but I'm learning to enjoy the quilting part because it's the frosting on the cake, so to speak. Perseverance will pay off with a beautiful, finished quilt!
