I have been gone for the weekend and I missed seeing all your retirement wished until this evening. Thank you so much, I love your story about the doctors office, Roseanne. Shirley knows I love the tiny bunny ear bottles and your pictures of them is great. My DH took my to te Animal Kingdom to stay for a couple of nights and I got to be like Dr. Dolittle and talk to the animals, well more like take many pictures and just plain enjoy watching them. Now it is time for quilting! Thanks you to all of you for your special wishes.

Guess who I got to meet today??? Here is a clue. . . .

Shirley, screen name: sforster395, and I met for coffee. Turns out we live about eight miles from each other and it took TQS to bring us together. We exchanged a few HSTs and chatted about our projects. We visited like we had known one another for years! Thanks Shirley for a wonderful time!

 Thanx, Terry, for posting our photo from yesterday's meeting. I enjoyed meeting you too and sharing quilting stories. This year has been the absolute best quilting experience I've ever had because of all the wonderful SoTTT sisters I've met thru the TQS Forum! Big hugs to Alex and Ricky for having a fantastic show that puts all of us in touch with each other thru the Internet or meeting in person!
Yesterday was a great day because in addition to meeting Terry Knott, I received a happy/fabulous note from Lotti of Switzerland (we all know who gorgeous Lotti is, right?), and an email from my new South Korean connection Fern Damour...Switzerland, South Korea, and Boring, Oregon (center of the universe! )...all in one day because of TQS! It doesn't get any better than that for me in my quilt world!
Oh, I'm happy dancing!
Hugs,
Shirley

HELP SISTERS
I have an easy pattern to make luggage tags. One step is to take a strip of material, fold with right sides together, sew 1/4 inch seam. Turn right side out to make a tube. I used a small safety pin to pin to one end of the strip and then thread back through the strip to turn the material. It did work, but was very hard to get started. Does anyone have a better idea??? I thought this just might be the right group to question. Thanks sisters! Paula

Paula, you can make a tube turner! Find something hollow that will fit inside sewn tag, and some kind of stick that will fit inside the tube.
Think small PVC and a dowel, or the paper tube from a paper towel roll and the handle of a wooden spoon, depending on the size of your tag.

Paula, one other thing you might consider adding to the right side of your fabric to make it more sturdy and waterproof is to use iron-on Thermo O Web Vinyl. It comes in clear and matt finishes and is used to make wallets from fabric too. You could also add buttonhole slits on the open top sides so you could slip a cord (or tassel) through them to attach to your luggage. I've also used scraps of Ultrasuede or suede-like fabric and just top stitched with a heavy thread around the outer edges for an easy tag to make. Just some ideas... :lol:Originally posted by ladyzHELP SISTERS

Margo, you are the "Queen of Resources" for helping us find easy and inexpensive solutions to our sewing/quilting questions. My fave so far is when you demonstrated how to mark our sewing machines with blue painter's tape so we have an accurate 1/4" guide on our machines if we don't own a 1/4" foot! I used that for my Singer Featherweight in a recent quilting class and just love it! Thanx much, Margo! You ROCK!
