How nice to hear from one of our Aussie Sisters...it's been a while! Robyn, I haven't received my HST's yet either, but I'm willing to play with you in the world wide web sandbox of International Sunbonnet Sue's and Overall Ricky's until we do! What would you wear to show me you're from Australia, and what toys would you bring?  I should explain that one of my HST projects has Sue's and Ricky's in it and I want to represent our international sisters as best I can. Margo kindly set up a separate thread called Shirley's Sunbonnet Sue's so you could comment there, if not here. Thanx for any help you give.
This is very tricky - I was thinking about it all last night  . I suppose it depends how "ocker" you want them to be. My daughter suggested hats with corks dangling off them - I have never seen anyone wear one in real life but apparently you wear them in the outback to keep the flies off your face. Or you could dress little Ricky all in white , put a baggy green cap on him and give him a cricket bat... I guess Sue could be a cricket player too. The beach is a big part of our lives, maybe you could dress them in bathing suits and have them at the beach playing with buckets and spades....I'm still thinking
- help me out here, other Aussies!
Happy Easter

Omgosh, I am soo excited.
They're here, they're here. My triangles came today. What fun.  I'd just gotten home from work when I found them, and I didn't have much time until we had to leave, so I've only played with them a little. I did see several countries- yah!- and I had a clara and a nancy. I'm so excited.
Thank you all for the gorgeous hst's and thank you to the organizers. I cannot imagine the daunting task you handled so well. I really appreciate it.
AND, thanks to Edyta for the inspiration and hst, and Ricky, Alex, and Margo too!!! You all rock.
More later,

For the aussie Sue, I was thinking the same kind of thoughts, although the corks on the hat hadn't made it into my thoughts at that time. Beach.. possibly cricket on the beach is some of our favourite times... I think the green and gold, sports and the great outdoors is all about us... What about the BBQ- the time honoured Aussie tradition!!

Oh, Joan, the Koala is a fantastic idea! A boomerang would also be appropriate, and I, too, was thinking along the lines of Crocodile Dundee...maybe drawing a cute croc head on the front of a small boat and giving him a big toothy smile with HST TEETH!  :mrgreen:Originally posted by snowladynsRobyn when I think of Australia I see Crocodile Dundee and beige cargo pants, am I mistaken? Richard Chamberlan in which movie, brown twill pants holding a koala. Wish I could visit I am sure Shirley will find something great. Joan

8) Okay, I'll take the bait  ...what do you Aussies eat at "your" BBQ's?   And please forgive my American ignorance, but what is your cricket game like? We play badminton and volleyball on the beach here in the States. Is it like either of those games?Originally posted by prccathFor the aussie Sue, I was thinking the same kind of thoughts, although the corks on the hat hadn't made it into my thoughts at that time. Dear Kathy;Originally posted by kathyst2Hey, if you all are reading names on the HST's, just wanted you to know that my Mom made 24 HST's. They are labeled "Marion" from Simi Valley, CA. She turned 90 a few weeks ago and just learned to quilt about 6 years ago. She and I went through "our" returned triangles the day they arrived, calling out where they came from. She's so happy to think that there will be quilts all over the world with her HST's in them (as am I for mine
).
Barbara, love your squirrel story. You are a natural born story teller. The only thing that comes close in my life is the alligator lizard in my kitchen a few years ago, that the cat brought in.
Kathy
I got one of yours but tell your mom; sorry I didn’t get one of hers but if she wants to she can send me one now? hee hee! Thanks for you anyway
