Clara I do hope that hat didn't say that he is 'The Hogwarts Sorting Hat', because if he did he is an imposter and a fraud, A Con-Hat! and I bet he doesn't know a half square triangle from an equilateral.Originally posted by ClaraLawrenceYes, it is my sorting hat giving me big hints that we need to get on with this sorting because quilts have to be made. Where as, I have it on best authority that The Hogwarts Sorting Hat is UNABLE to come :!:
Despite this, hearing of your predicament, he has arranged for Sorting Assistants to come to your aid, who are ready and willing 'Get Sorting' and ensure that you have 'The Right Numbers'

I am sorry about your friend. That is tough.Originally posted by PattiSureA quilt I made for a close friend battling cancer is posted in my profile called "Surrounded by My Family." My friend died this past Friday. She really suffered over the last 5 years. She was so happy with the quilt (If you look at the picture what looks like flowers are kaleidoscope photos of her children and grandchildren) she showed it to everyone who visited her. I am so grateful to have had her in life.
My sister-in-law/best friend also fought hard and lost to cancer. I did a quilt for her. A healing quilt. It is on my profile. Look for the one with the yellow bars above and below the center panel. We had everyone in the family and close friends sign a loving thought for her. When I presented it her we had all the munchkins in the house (there were a lot) stand under the quilt and sream with all their mite (had them think of their favorite toy) and send some positive energy into it. The rest of us (adults) gathered around while holding it and said a loving prayer. It was the most meaningful piece I've ever done. Clara

Oh No he isn't! He is a Con-hat, not the real thing at all, and I am surprised that you have been taken in with his mock patches and smooth talk, he looks far too 'tidy', (besides he probably cannot even say 'helloo' properly, like the real Hogwarts Hat)Originally posted by ClaraLawrenceIt is the sorting hat, but he is here on official duties. Nancy, you are a special kind of friend. The prayer shawl is stunning and the applique and quilting are perfect.Originally posted by NancyWGood evening ladies,
I am Nancy from North Carolina and I want to share a couple of photos of something I made during this exchange. We're all so excited about making and exchanging the HSTs, but during this time, I have a friend who has developed pancreatic cancer. I had some of the papers left that I bought from Edyta for our exchange project, so I made some more HSTs and made a prayer shawl for my friend. I used Edyta's pattern for the Tree of Life for the middle back of the shawl and her Friendship Baskets for the ends. The triangles in the baskets represent all of the friends and well wishes who are involved in my making of the prayer shawl. I don't really machine quilt or machine applique as a rule, but thought it best so we could get the present to our friend. I will make something wonderful from our exchange and share that later on, but wanted to show my exchange friends what has been going on even before the sort. Y'all have happy week.

We've been getting lots of hints from Clara and Debbie, so we know sorting day is SOON! I decided to just have fun during the wait, so please excuse my not so perfect poetry, as it is: JUST FOR FUN!
Blessed are the sorters,
For they shall be known as Queens of the SOTTTs!
Hooray for the recievers,
For they shall be yelling, "Look what I gots!"
HST DITTY
We must sew them together!
Let's pray for some snow!
For if it's bad weather,
We can stay home and sew.
We chose all our fabric
From the stash that we had.
Selecting the good ones,
Ditching the bad.
Light on the top
Sewn on the dotted line,
Keeping it straight,
Ooooh, I'm liking mine!
Press it,
Cut it,
Stack it,
Bag it.
AND, DON"T FORGET TO WRITE THE NUMBER ON THE BAGGIE!
We mailed them in,
(Will it get there in time?)
Watching my emails,
Yea! They got mine!
And, so now we wait,
As the sorters sort!
I will be patient,
and be a good sport!
It will take lots of time
For the packages to be mailed!
Debbie and Clara
You are to be hailed!!!!
We love you both!
AND, the COURT of the Sorting Queen!
Without you, Sisters,
This never would have been!

Clara I remember admiring that quilt when you posted it! In fact I love putting a face and personality to your work which always drew my eye when you posted it. I love what you did to infuse the love and prayers going out to your SIL after the quilt was made. I did mine in the same intention to help my friend feel the warmth of her family.
Dawn, wonderful verses.

I'll bet that upstart didn't have one - oh, probably not, he is maskarading as The Hogwarts Sorting Hat (the fraud-boo hiss)
I still insist that he is a Con-Hat, and I have the evidence to prove it! :P
