Dawn I love the way you matched the papers with the fronts for an "eternal record" of who did each block! Lots of ideas about how to keep/use the papers, I like the idea of printing them on fabric to use on the back, as a border, something like that. But then, a pocket containing a ziplock with the originals might be easier
This has been an amazing ride and we haven't even begun to see the actual quilts that will be made from them, the excitement just keeps on coming!

Scoopie, we must have the ESP's going between us because matching the paper triangle with the fabric HST is exactly what I planned to do with mine, scan them in and make fabric blocks together with a favorite email and photo of the quilter (where possible) which would then become the backing. I was hoping to sort them by country, state, or color. I'll have to wait and see what I get back! All the paper HSTs might be placed in a special envelope-type quilt label or in my SoTTT Memory Album. Not sure about that yet. I was also thinking about printing out the full SoTTT title on several pieces of fabric to make into the quilt sleeve. Each letter could be from some of the scanned HST's reduced in size...me thinks this could go on and on forever!!
I'm thinking about making on-point blocks of International Sues for each country in the exchange and have some fun designing their outfits. There will also be a Cowboy Ricky and maybe a few Overall Bill/Sam's? for the rest of our brother quilters. These blocks would each be framed with the HST's.
I was also going to print 2 more sets of the scanned triangles. For one set I would fuse Heat N Bond to protect them, cut them apart into complete triangular tree shapes, and make a Christmas"friendship tree skirt" to enjoy during the holidays. It's easy to sew thru the Heat N Bond. I've made pine cone ornaments from Heat N Bond fused over beautiful paper napkins with a Claude Monet painting printed on them. They looked like glass and the paper napkins were completely protected.
The second set would be cut apart and each HST would be matched with its quiltmaker in my SoTTT Memory Album. Potholders were a wonderful earlier suggestion too.
I'm sure the ideas from this exchange are going to be flowing for quite a while!

Dawn, it was all good!  When sorting through all those HSTs it was fun to come across a name that I recognized from the forum!Originally posted by ScoopieOriginally posted by sarah3Dawn, you are the inspiration I was looking for. This is a fabulous idea. I love the idea of incorporating the "printed treasures" of the signatures on the back of the quilt. The two Debbie's kept talking about Scoopie and now I can put a face with the screen name. Thanks for replying, Sarah3
Oh dear! I hope it was all good!

What a clever idea, Shirley!!! I would love to see someone pull that one off!!Originally posted by sforster395I'm thinking about making on-point blocks of International Sues for each country in the exchange and have some fun designing their outfits. A "pirate" for Alex might be too confusing, but a hand quilter would be perfect!
And one dressed in HSTs for Edyta???
And HST sorting hats for Debbie and Clara!!
I'm lovin' this!!

Thank you so much everyone who helped with the sort, love and prayers to Debbie and Clara they must be ready for a spa treatment by now. I am trying to get commitments finished so I can play when my package arrives. Everything takes two to three weeks to arrive up here so I still have time. Looking forward to Show and Tell. Joan

OK...tell me when to stop!! Ricky needs a little red piano and Alex needs red shoes!! :lol:Originally posted by sforster3958) 8) 8) Oh, Margo! We are sooooooooooo totally on the same page!!!!!!!!! It's going to take some time to plan each of the "Sue" blocks plus Ricky's and the guys' blocks, but it's going to be one happy tea party for sure!

8) 8) 8) Margo...DON'T STOP, DON'T STOP, DON'T STOP! We're sharing the same fantasy! I have to print the words "The Doll" somewhere on Edyta's hat (because her husband says she is and I believe him after this exchange!); Alex has to be quilting a "very small feather" design and she's wearing sandals to show off her 8) pedicure! How 8) is that? In addition to a piano and flute (music) theme, Ricky has to be wearing a modified version of his rhapsody design going up his pant leg/s; Debbie (filling a bag of Golden Tickets of HST triangles for Clara's van) and Clara (who's also petting her favorite pony) "just have to be wearing" their special couture hats by Rosemary and Friends of the UK, and you have to be a teacher
with a class of "little HST triangles" learning to write their signatures on the SoTTT Forum and doing friendship quilting!
Okay...your turn...I have to stop hyperventilating!

Sorting hats don't necessarily have to be pointed like the one Rosemary made, but just regular Sunbonnets made of HSTs? Either way would be great!
Backgrounds....depending on how much you want to get carried away with this, the backgrounds of at least some of the blocks need to be 1" x 1" (finished size) HSTs in very subtle neutral colors. In fact, I will volunteer to make some for you! Let me know if you want this addition, and how many pieced ones, and what size your blocks will be.
Would you like to see if there are any International volunteers who would be willing to make suggestions for their country's Sue?
Oh my! Maybe it's time to start a new topic to keep all of this together!

   Great ideas, Margo! (And thank you for offering to make 1"x1" background squares. I'll get my thinking cap on for that idea!) ...And an emphatic, "YES, I would l-o-v-e to hear how our International Sue SoTTT sisters would like to be dressed!" What fun this is going to be! After all this sharing and bantering back and forth, these "Sue's and Ricky and the Guys" blocks might become larger individual wall hangings.
Okay, all of you SoTTT sisters and brothers out there...what would you like to wear and/or be doing in my quilt or individual wall hangings?

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who worked on this exchange. This is the first one I've every joined and have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the posts--I don't spend a lot of time online so haven't always kept up although did check in every few days or so. The pictures are a treat for those of us who couldn't be a part of the sorting process. And those Hats  I actually said out loud "OMG" when I saw them. I always knew quilters were creative but this has gone way beyond what was imagined. You sisters/brothers are astounding.
