    Hi all,

I'm so excited that Alex and Ricky are joining in and as for Alex signing that is ok with me. I finally finished my HST's tonight and will be shipping them out this week. I have 22 bags with 28 HST's in each bag. I labeled each triangle with my town, state and country and on each bag I have my screen name and the number of HST's in each bag. I will post a message when they are mailed.

I would also like to know about the recommended thread for these projects.

I have gotten some triangles done and have decided to down size the amount and make a small wall hanging. I kept thinking oh my , I'm going to be getting the same amount back and then have to sew them together. So for once in my life, I am not biting off more than I can chew.

I have Madera thread but it is polyester and i know that is not good on cotton fabric because it will cut through the fabric. The 100% cotton fabric thread I have I think is too thick. I have ordered some fabric from Jinny Beyer on line but it hasn’t arrived yet and I am anxious to get going.
Any suggestions on thread? I am in the coastal South East where we only have two quilt shops. Everything else we have to get on-line or drive to Savannah, Ga if one of the quilt shops has it. Thanks,

          Hi,
Edyta was using a 50 weight thread from Aurafill but you can use any 50 weight thread or something similiar. The idea is to use a thread that won't cause bulk and change the size of the block. I started with Gutterman thread but switched to bottom line by Superior Threads when someone said it would be good to work with.
If you can't find anything local you could order from Superior. Although if you are like the rest of us you don't want to wait.

A couple of you have asked recently re: which thread to use....Superior's Masterpiece is my choice, and I think a lot of others are using it as well. It is a 50-wt, almost lint-free long-staple cotton thread that is a delight to work with (I use it for all my piecing). Hopefully you can find it in a LQS, but if not, Superior threads provides very quick, efficient online service (http://www.superiorthreads.com/shop/...-yds/products/). I have ordered their 3,000 yd cones in several neutral shades and am a huge fan of this product! Nancy

SoTTT's Members -- please, ya gotta help me out here!! I received 13 packages today and only 6 had the screen name and HST count posted on the outside of the envelope, which meant I had to open the package and go through it to find out who and how many.
That's not so difficult now since there are not that many, but it does take time. And once I start receiving 20,30,40 a day, it will take me all day to sort through them if you don't do it correctly.

Also, it is imperative that you use your own name in the 'sender' space on your return envelope. If you have not included sufficient postage for your package, that way it will go back to you to pay the extra postage and not me. Plus the fact that my P.O. Box will be closed after all the packages are received and your HST's could be lost forever.

Some of the packages I have been receiving have been done exactly right and I am most appreciative of those of you who did it right...and you know who you are!

I'm repeating this same post today for the benefit of those of you who are getting your packages ready for mailing. And please remember go to the 1st page of this Forum, 2nd post, to review additional mailing information.

                  Thanks,
                  Debbie

Please take your time getting your package together correctly. There's still plenty of time to get them to me, so you don't need to rush.

                  Thank you very much,

Barbara, if you are ever attending a quilt show where Dr. Bob (Superior Threads) is having a thread lecture, it it definitely worth the time/money/effort to go. It is NOT a long sales pitch for Superior Thread, but rather is FULL of information about thread in general. You will learn that polyester thread will NOT cut through cotton. (Most commercial tee shirts are cotton, stitched with polyester thread, and those seams certainly don't get cut with use!)

With that said, my thread of choice for piecing is Superior's MasterPiece. I always keep 3 cones of it on hand. I like the neutrals and use a light, medium or dark value depending on the fabrics I'm sewing. Customer service and shipping are great if you order from the web site: http://www.superiorthreads.com/shop/...e/description/

I got my Aurifil thread through http://sewezdesigns.com/Aurifil1.html. She has all the colors of Aurifil. I love this thread. It sews beautifully and you don't have to worry about the lint building up in your machine. When I bought mine she had a sale on for $6.00 a spool. It looks like she's running a sale for $7.00. Hope this helps

                            Hi all,
I can't tell you how much i love all of the Superior Threads line. I am using Masterpiece for the exchange and all of my other quilting - including a paper pieced Grandmother's Flower Garden out of Batiks. It sews like a dream. I couldn't agree more with Margo about the company. I have called with thread tension challenges and whoever answered the phone as so helpful and if they couldn't help me they forund someone who would. They are the best!!!!

Edyta recommends using Aurifil thread and sells it on her web site: http://www.laundrybasketquilts.com/Shop/shopindex.htm
It is a 50-weight cotton thread, which means that it is very thin, and excellent for piecing because it does not create extra bulk in the seam allowance.

I like Superior's MasterPiece thread. It is also a 50-weight cotton thread, but this thread is made with extra-long staple Egyptian-grown cotton, and produces very little lint.
I find that Aurifil tends to produce more lint than I want to deal with.

A lot of TQS members are now using mostly Superior Threads. They have been a site sponsor since the beginning of TQS. In fact,
Dr. Bob, The Thread Guy, was on the very first TQS episode, and continues to offer thread education through his excellent web site and monthly newsletter.

I, for one, really appreciate learning WHY some thread types work better in some situations than others do, and like having a resource to help me troubleshoot any problems I'm having with tension or breakage when sewing on either my domestic and/or my long-arm machine. http://www.superiorthreads.com/education/

And their customer service is top-notch!

Margo, can you recommend a color in Masterpiece that is close to the color of Aurofil that Edyta uses. I just got done using some Aurofil and I think if I ever sewed with it again I would have a mental breakdown. It caused havoc with my machine.
                                Thank you,
