I am curious to know if vinegar is part of their formula, but doubt that this information is available to the public. Is there any information of the packaging indicating the contents? Does the type of dye dictate how to "permanently" set the color? Are there any chemists out there that can explain more about the use of vinegar as a setting agent?
That's all I can contribute right now. As soon as he gets some answers, I will reply.

Want something fun to do with TQS sisters & brothers while waiting for our treasured HST's & strips??!!
Anyone interested in a potholder swap? I participated in one last year & it was great fun.
The sky's the limit since you will decide all the issues...color/size/shape/theme/and so on with your swap partner.
I'll be the monitor...it's easy to join.
Just send me an e-mail at
mailto:[email protected]
before May 1, 2011.
After I receive all your e-mails, I will pair you up.
Once you have your swap partner's e-mail, you will communicate with each other to set up the
details of swapping with one another.
You will send the potholder directly to your swap partner...so no need for Guardian Goddess or Sorting Queen.
No one could fill their royal shoes (or Hats!) anyway, bless them!!!
***reminder...be sure to send an e-mail to the above address...
mailto:[email protected]
not my romira one***
And, of course, it's all on the Forum under the topic: Potholder Swap
Ladies (and Gents), start your engines!!

Of course I picked April 15th to mail my strips at the Post Office. I had to laugh at myself. I just want to thank Barb for her time and effort putting this together. I hope her reward is just getting to see all of the beautiful fabrics. Thanks so very much!May I add, after I posted this I wanted to give a huge thank you to all that are involved working on this.

Morning All.
Just finished opening and sorting...
I have 147 packages and 23,506 strips - still getting batiks I have not seen before - amazing :!: :!: :!:
Today is April 17th - your envelopes are due to me by April 30th. I would like to sort soon after that date, so if you are participating, please get to the post office this week
Don't forget to send me an email so I know your strips are on the way.

Barbara,
I am sorry, but I will not be able to send any strips. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on March 31st. I had exploratory surgery on April 2nd which will result in a 10.5 in. scar! They were able to remove most of the cancer and I will begin chemo next week. I am not bouncing back as quick as I had hoped. At 72 it takes a bit longer than I would like! I had just started cutting strips after sending in my HST when this all started. I have enjoyed reading all the posts and feel bad I have to drop out. We are hopeful for a great recovery. Please keep me in your prayers.

Hugs to you Deanna. I got one of you HSTs in my returns and realized that we are nearly neighbors. Wishing you a successful fight with the big "C".

Miss Deanna, you can count on my prayers. I was going to email you privately but I'll say it here because knowing the TQS members, others are going to have the same thought. But I would love to send you some strips so you don't miss out. I didn't have enough variety so I bought more fabric and can easily and happily cut more strips. If anyone else wants to do this, I could have you mail them to me to pass on to Deanna if that's alright with Barb and everyone.
