Here is my plan... red is the scrappy HSTs from the swap, black is my constant which I will make from navy or black.

The more I look at CMOELLERS quilt that she just made for her sister (shown on her last blog) the more I'm thinking I'd like to do that, in a mini. I'll have to see what all I get, and play with it on my design wall. I really like that quilt! I'd put the picture here, but don't have a clue how to swipe one from someone's blog and post it here. :?

That's a great quilt, Dawn. And I can see that it uses a mixture of triangles and squares so will be perfect for the mini.

I am relatively new to quilting, so I started to look thru books for block ideas made with hst's. I didn't find many so I checked in "The Quilter's Catalog" for references and Meg Cox listed a couple of websites. I found a lot of inspiration when I checked them out! http://www.BlockCentral.com and http://www.QuiltersCache.com are the sites and you can use them if you give credit on your quilt label and don't use them for commercial endeavors. Check it out! I may use a pattern from Edyta's book also. Still thinking! Looked at Electric Quilt site and drooled. That may have to wait for a special occasion gift!

I found a quilt on the slide show of Edyta's quilts that I really like and am leaning towards it. One of the good things about the pattern is I can work on the other components of the blocks while waiting for the HTS's to come back. I love to use scraps from other quilters cast-offs and all my HTS's are from the "free" table at guild. I have plenty of pieces left to start the rest of the block pieces and then just put them together when the HTS's come! FUN, FUN, FUN! By the way, for the gal from Dallas who wanted the snow, got enough yet? What a difference a week makes!

Y'all might also wish to consult "Spectacular Scraps" by Judy Hooworth & Margaret Rolfe; this is all quilts from HST's.
