I have Edyta's books on order and a couple of her pattern's but was also thinking of an Ocean Waves (have always wanted to do one). Haven't completely decided yet. Just depends on how many HST's I get made. I have a feeling I will be doing several HST quilts. There are just to many quilts that I want to make. To bad work interferes with quilting!!!

After looking through a block book I decided the sampler quilt was out. It would end up being too big with the blocks I wanted to use. Then I had another idea. I'm thinking of cutting my blocks into 4 pieces which will make 2 triangle-squares and a light and a dark square which will finish at 3/4". Since I'm more into miniatures now this is not too small for me. I will remove the paper before cutting and pressing and pin it to one of the triangles and save those for other projects. I will press the seams open on the triangles. I searched through Jinny Beyer's "The Quilters Album of Patchwork Patterns" for blocks that could be made with 1/3 triangles, 1/3 light squares, and 1/3 dark squares. I found a few and this is 2 of them called Kaleidoscope and Endless Chain with slight changes to give me more triangles plus I rotated some of the triangles for a different look. I will need an additional 4 light squares for each block. If I make it this size I will need 700 triangles. With a 2" border it will finish at 34" x 46". There will be no applique on my quilt. I'm thinking of naming it Linked Together in Friendship. I will practice with some of my extra blocks first just to make sure I like it. Of course I have the right to change my mind.

Annis, you lost me! How do cut a HST into 4 pieces? Are you cutting the seam off? But, now you've got me thinking! I love and have done minis before, so maybe that is the direction I will go. Also, I only see one quilt. Did you post two?

I won't be cutting the seam off but may trim it a little. If you cut a 1 1/4" square off the corner opposite the seam that will leave you with 1 1/4" triangles. I will do a tutorial on my blog when I do the practice ones. There is only one quilt. It uses both blocks. The quilts that I will be using the remaining triangles on will be future designs.

Dawn if you cut the HSTs on the green lines you get one light square, one dark square and two little HSTs.

Annis, I can't wait to see what you do with these!

Whoa -- Margo thank you for the visual because I was scratching my head trying to picture it.

Annis dear one -- we all love you deeply but you are beginning to scare us with your deep affection of all these tiny block creations. Perhaps we should all gather for an intervention? That way we could each remove one of these tiny temptations from your home and take them back home with us.....just to keep you safe from yourself, of course!

I am really looking forward to watching all of you play with your HSTs when they arrive.

Oh Margo! That is just too awesome! I'm there! I'm going mini! I'll play with some extra HSTs that I have. But, right now I am wrapping gifts for my three girls (including DIL ) who have birthdays this week. Tomorrow is shop and mail day, so I will have to wait until Wednesday to play. Darn :x

I haven't even thought of how many I am sending let alone what to do with them. The next two days are going to be really nasty winter mix here in Connecticut, so I will warm up the EQ 7 and play. Just a little of course, I still have actual sewing to do too.

Thanks, Margo. That was quick and they look so perfect. Pat Speth does this in her book Nickel Quilts. She calls them small-wonder units. I'm debating whether to cut them before or after the seam is pressed. If I do it before then I will be cutting through 2 layers at a time and cutting off half of the bunny ears, but the pressing will take twice as long. I guess I will try it both ways to see which I like best.

JoJo, those little quilts don't take up as much space in my house and I save a bundle on fabric and thread. But they barely put a dent in my stash so I guess I will have to make an occasional larger quilt. No intervention needed yet! I've got lots of half-square triangle cut-offs from quilts that I've been saving that haven't been used yet. If I keep making large quilts these will keep multiplying and I may have some to share.

See--we just have to be patient and Annis will share with us. Your work is wonderful and they just want to intervene to get out of the cold weather.

This isn't the best week to get out of the cold weather here. We're expecting sleet, ice, and snow tomorrow and some very low temperatures for the rest of the week. What should we expect with all of the Super Bowl people here?? I'm sure they will be disappointed that it isn't in the 70s like it was part of last week. At least it will be back up to 55 by Sunday.
