    Leslie,
I really like the Contrary Wife Idea. I printed the picture just to see when I start on my Design Wall.

Leslie, I think that layout would make a beautiful quilt.

When I first recieved my HST's I didn't have time to sit and enjoy going through them...however, God arranged a little "down" time for me! I broke my ankle the day before Easter and will be on crutches for at least 3 weeks! So, I've been able to ooh, aah, press, remove paper, count, arrange and fondle all my little HST's. Since Edyta was the inspiration for this exchange, I'm going to make her "Criss-Cross" quilt from her Friendship Triangles book. Now, gotta crawl up the stairs to my sewing studio and learn to sew with my left foot!!!

I have decided to make the tree of life quilt from Edyta's Friendship triangle book but make it bigger. I bought my fabric today and am excitedly waiting for my package of hsts to arrive.

My sympathy goes out to you, Jo Ann! I just spent 11 weeks in a cast after I broke my ankle. 6 weeks on crutches and five weeks where I could walk on the cast.

Pretty cool design, Clara! I think I see one of my triangles in there. :-)

Clara, glad to see you are getting to plan and play with your hst's.
Your block is lovely. It's great to see all the ideas.

I must be really dense today, I'm trying to follow Margo's instruction for uploading an image from EQ6, and I'm not even seeing anything that says "place in line"... any hints?

And while I'm asking, I have an EQ question, maybe this is possible in 6 or maybe added in 7, but is there any way to have it randomly place colors, perhaps limited as "light, med. or dark" rather than have to pick every fabric for a scrappy look when designing?

                          Thanks,

Florence, after you have chosen the photo file you want to use and you have clicked on ADD THE FILE, your screen will re-set itself and you need to scroll back down to the bottom of the text box.

Between the text box and the UPLOAD ATTACHMENT tab, there will be a list called POSTED ATTACHMENTS listing the photos you have uploaded (you may do up to three photos in one post).

Below each file name you have a choice to PLACE INLINE or to DELETE FILE.

Place your cursor in the text box where you want the photo to appear and click on PLACE INLINE. If you have more than one photo, you need to place each one of them wherever you want them to appear in your text box.

                            Hope this helps!

PS...I would also love to know if there is a magic way to make random colors in EQ!

                              Thanks,
I just looked at my color buttons in EQ7: It's the same in EQ6 too.

Paint brush just colors one piece at a time.
Paint brush plus CTRL key, colors the selected piece in each block in the quilt. If you have more than one block pattern, it only colors the pieces in the block you're working on.
Spray can colors all of that color in your selected block.
Spray can plus CTRL kay, does this for the entire quilt in every block like the block you are working on.
The swap colors key replaces each instance of the color you click on in the quilt, with the selected color. It's different from spray can Plus CTRL because swap colors works for all blocks, borders, etc.
Random recolor just globally swaps one color for another. If there were two colors in the original quilt, there will still be only 2 colors
after random recolor. If there were 10 colors, there will be 10 new colors in the quilt after using it.

So, you could replace a color with a different value color within one block without clicking on each piece. To change on a piece by piece basis, you have to do it piece by piece, either when coloring blocks for the sketchbook, or when in the quilt.

Hopefully this answers your question without making things more confusing!

Ok, I think I'm still confused, but have been tied up all day & am now heading out of town so it may be a while before I can try this... didn't want you to think I'm ignoring you!!
