That in fine. We had a big discussion at the beginning of this and once I was educated I realized that all cream batiks have more than one color in them. The good contrast is what is important.Originally posted by QuilterMommaI have my hst made up, but in reading, I hope we were not to have a solid cream batik, mine has some shading of green in it. It was what I had. I put it with blues, greens, blacks, brown so there is good contrast between light and dark.

Ladyz,
The rules state "light one one side and darker on the other." The focus is on contrast. Originally we were going to use only cream, but cream is not always available, and many come with other colors blended into them. You should be fine with what you have already made. (Also, check the post right above yours, that Ritzy has already addressed.)

We are to 95 folks doing the HST batiks exchange. I am trying to stay really organized with this exchange so this snow has be good. I can keep updating my information. So, I have been through all the post under the title "specific fabric exchange" and I think I have everyone from there. I noticed that I have quite a few that I do not have email address for and so you won't know where to send your HSTs. So these are the ones I don't have:

Ritzy...Originally posted by SalAprilI have a question regarding numbers... can you join twice so that you get twice as many HSTs? I don't have a pattern in mind yet, but you need lots to do a quilt.
Sallie's question above put a thought in my head  As you are doing this by yourself, would it be advantageous to you if
we all sent the number of HST's as there are people signed up :?: For example: If there are 100 signed up, we would
all send 100 HSTs or increments of that number (100, 200, 300, etc.). What do you think :?:

Judy--that would be the easiest thing for me if you are all up to it. Keep in mind that if there are 100 people and they all send 100 you will each get one from each; if you and a few others send 200 you will get a lot of your own back. So, easiest is if everyone sends the same amount and I don't know how everyone else feels about that.

I do think I remember that the exchange is cream on one side
and dark or medium on the other side. I think if we start strething the guideline, it will lead to some dissapointments especially when many of us went and bought cream batiks to do this and have most of them done already. I personally set my site on a cream and scrap quilt the Tree one from her book. Thanks for letting me input. Sandy in NY

Ritzy, it would make sense for us to send one for each member participating- if 120 participate then we send 120. It really would make it easier for you, especially if no one else is helping you do the sorting. It sounds like it would be a big job for you, if I lived near you I would help, but alas I'm a little to far away. You are a brave lady to take on this task and I thank you.

Hmmm, I not sure what I may have said but I was thinking that the cream colored I have seen all have other colors in them such as yellow, blue, etc. But yes, dark or medium on one side and a cream on the other all batiks. Good contrast. Sorry if I have frustrated you all.

Hey Ritz....you're the "boss"....if the equal HST's to participants would be great for you, just say the word :!: :!:Originally posted by ritzyJudy--that would be the easiest thing for me if you are all up to it.
