Re: sorting and/or mixing HST’s - My suggestion would be to allow my three long haired chihuahua’s and one mutt-Papillon/Chi to sort them on our living floor. They would do a really good job! It’s the picking up part that would take a while!

Thanks for the tip on ironing the HST’s before cutting! I was just taking a lunch break and reading e-mails & your posts. I just finished with my first sheet & have already cut them apart but at least I won’t freak out when I iron them. Now I know what to expect and will iron the next batch before separating!

Ditto. New to exchanges (except for ones with Mama) and the Forum, but love all the tips from everyone. I sewed a bunch of "tester" HSTs before a road trip this weekend. I took Edyta's advice from the show and tore off the papers on the road. It was the perfect task for in the car. In fact, for the first time it allowed me to focus on something else besides extremely large trucks getting too close my side of the wagon!

TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TRIANGLES EXCHANGE: Please note that in a few days we plan to close the thread on this specific Forum topic and open a new 'Chapter 2 Sisterhood' forum topic. That new forum will all us to post pertinent information and important updates at the very beginning of the forum as we did here, but I'm also going to be reserving a few more posts right after that to separate the infomation.

My Testers were for my own benefit, not for the Sisterhood Exchange. I'm making an Applique Block Book based on Edyta's book cover pattern so I needed many triangles to get that finished before sewing bee this week. Rest assured I will not be tearing the papers off of the ones I send in... Thanks for all the reminders!

Ann...I had a pretty good feeling that you already knew what to do especially since you were being so conscientious as to make testers. I'm taking every opporutnity I can to make sure that sinks to everyone, so in reality, the reminder was for all the members.

Today i started sewing the first triangles. I was going to do one paper but it is so much fun and it works so well I made 12 already. I can tell hyou I will make 700!!

Little boo boo here. My fault. I was double checking with PayPal online and walking through the process so I could describe it. Apparently you do have to set up an account. I'm impatiently waiting for the mail, hoping to get the papers. In the meantime I am filling buckets and bottles with water in preparation for the ice storm. I would like to make at least one sample page before my electric goes. I need to dig out my camping coffeepot to put on the wood stove. Then I can be happy picking out fabric and planning my own quilt with the HST's. No electric, no water!! Last time it was a week, but that was May and alot warmer temps. Keep warm everyone.

We're waiting for that storm too. We won't get the ice (hopefully) but up to 16 inches of snow. Don't you just love winter? I'm hoping my papers arrive today too as the next few days will be great for staying in and quilting. I'm supposed to get my LA tomorrow - so excited!! Hope they can make it before the roads get really nasty.

Everyone else,

I was thinking about the sorting as well, and was clear on something and then heard you say something else.

It is my understanding that we are to put 28 HST in a baggie - if I do 10 sheets, I use 10 baggies, each with a label of my name and mailing address - I was going to suggest putting something like "1 of 10" , "2 0f 10" on each baggie to assist in your sorting process. But, I think I just heard that you aren't requiring 28 per small baggie. Not sure why you would remove that requirement, but if you decide to keep it in, it would absolutely make your sorting process easier. You can sort my 1st 28, refill my baggie with 28, and pop it into my box. Then, you aren't sorting 700 for me, but 25 baggies of 28. Anyway - my thoughts on the whole thing, and I'm completely confident in your abilities to do this! My partner is an engineer, and I even had him thinking on it for a while.

Also, I was thinking about the fact that I'm sending in 700 - with 615 participants, I'm guaranteed to get some of my own back. But, if many of us send in 700 (or more than 615) I would be happy to get 4-5 of another persons' HST who also sent in 700. That way, I don't get 85 of my own back, but I would be happy to have 4-5 identical ones in the quilt (I'm making the cover quilt from her book.)

It will be interesting to see how many people actually turn in. It will be easiest to sort by most turned in and least turned in, and start the swap there. We can't wait for pictures.

Up to 6 sheets complete and 10 more sheets pinned and ready for sewing. (I did this in between completing the borders on a bed sized quilt this weekend! Great weekend!!!)
