Originally posted by louisevickersI'm in already and have ordered sheets so hope to get working when they arrive, the sooner the better. My plan for scrappy quilts with a group here is to make them for the flood victims in southern Queensland.
What a wonderful way to use the 'friendship' triangles, Louise! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the terrible flooding and I know they will be greatful for your efforts.
If anyone wants to include a few more triangles toward Louise's effort, please put them in a separate baggie in your package and mark that you want them to be sent to Louise Vickers for the Queensland Flood victims and we'll see that they get sent to her in her return package.

Just wanted to share an idea I had this morning - as soon as I get my triangles back, I am going to take all of the ones that have a state or other identification on them and lay them out and take pictures - then transfer those pictures to fabric and include these pieces in my quilt back - a great way to remember this event.
I'm ready to help sort.

There is no International reply service for articles over 50g. In this case it may be recommended to send a Western Union Money Transfer.
You can find information relating to Western union Transfers here: http://auspost.com.au/personal/overseas.html"
50g is about 2 ounces....so it looks like International Reply Coupons may not work?? Maybe we could try what someone (Debbie I think?) suggested a few pages ago - creating a mailing label at http://www.usps.com & paying for it by credit card...otherwise just take the risk and include some cash to cover the return postage (???)

I do hope that everyone does include their information on the papers, because I was also going to scan and copy them onto fabric, but rather than put them on the back, I thought I would use them to make a flying geese border to put on the front. Design layout dependant upon how many I make.

I am so excited about this!!! Have been wanting to do an exchange for a long time!!! I only live about 2 1/2 hours from Houston. I would be happy to help with the sorting if you need another pair of hands! Let me know! Love the idea about printing the info from the HST's on fabric and using it either in the quilt or as a label!!!! I am going to do that too! Working on HST's this weekend!

I really hope everyone marks their HST with at least the state/country. It would make this exchange so much more meaningful!
I am going to make extra for the lady making the quilts for Queensland. I also am going to include a cash donation to cover postal fees for use in all over sea packages in the event it is needed.
Thanks to all who are making this exchange possible!

I hate to be the Grinch Who Stole Christmas, but --
OUR DEADLINE TO JOIN THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TRIANGLES EXCHANGE HAS COME AND GONE AS OF MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY, January 26.
CLARA ACTUALLY STAYED UP UNTIL AFTER MIDNIGHT TO GIVE US THE FINAL COUNT... WE ARE SO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT OUR SISTERHOOD MEMBERS TOPPED OUT AT A UNBELIEVABLE 615 FROM 14 COUNTRIES. Here are more details from Clara on the countries involved. Quilters joining us from USA, Canada (22), UK (6), Ireland (1), Scotland (1), Finland (1), Norway (1), the Netherlands (2), Australia (27), Panama (1), South Korea (1), New Zealand (1), Germany (1) and now Switzerland (1).
Thanks to all 615 who joined...now all I have to do is wait for the triangles to start pouring into the P.O. Box. I'll try to keep updating you on what's happening and try to include pictures as the triangles start rolling in!
Please remember to refer back to the Guidelines (1st Forum Post on 1st Page) if you have questions. I also posted a step-by-step checklist on Page 14 regarding sewing the triangles.
And many, many members have also posted useful information regarding International mailing.
Thanks again and start visualizing what you'll be doing with all those fabulous triangles...

Amanda, The Guidelines are posted on the 1st Sisterhood Forum post on Page 1. We are also using that 1st post to include important updates, so please check back there often. There is also a step-by-step post that I created regarding sewing your HSTs...that can be found on Page 14.
Several members have also done research on international postage from various countries and those are found throughout the forum, but mostly on the last 20 or so pages.
