I totally agree Margo. Thanks Debbie and Clara for your willing organization of this event. Thanks also to all your helpers!Originally posted by MargoI don't envy that job either, Christine! Just the thought of figuring that all out makes my head hurt! :lol:Originally posted by christinetindellMan, I do not envy your job of sorting these. But, I am so excited to receive this many different HSTs. With many helpers, I think it wouldn't take too much time, but one or two doing it would be mind boggling. You wouldn't have taken it on if you weren't capable though!
From what I've seen, this project is in VERY capable hands! DEBBIE AND CLARA ROCK!!Deborah W

I have previously posted that I'm "in", so don't count me a second time but I have a question for any who would like to answer. I will probably order the triangle paper from laundry basket quilts if for no other reason than to support that site but I was wondering if any of you have seen/used the free printouts from either of the following 2 websites.

The problem with downloading the templates is that they may lose size in the downloading and/or printing and that could certainly cause a problem once someone started putting a quilt together with 400-500 HSTs. You would also need to make sure the paper it's printed on is 'tearable'. I've tried using standard printer paper for paper piecing and it was a mess!Originally posted by eyeonquiltsI have previously posted that I'm "in", so don't count me a second time but I have a question for any who would like to answer. Those of us who have done Sue Garman's Block of the Month projects that use paper piecing have followed her directions for using regular computer paper, and we have found that it works very well! You just need to be sure that your patterns print out at the right scale and set your machine stitches to about 20 per inch.
TQS star members can download Sue's Introduction to the 2011 TQS BOM called RUFFLED ROSES to read her directions and try her sample paper piecing house design.
learn/all-boms
HOWEVER...Please be aware that the scaling on that particular PDF file is NOT correct, and the scaling square will NOT measure 1"x1". (The rest of the paper pieced patterns are scaled correctly.)
Try the technique and see if you like the way the paper tears away!

Wow, that was quick! I first read about this on Friday night and immediately ordered the papers from Laundrybasketquilts.com. And I got them today! After working all day and a 4 hour class this evening, I didn't have time to get started, but I will tomorrow night! The papers feel like a terrific weight for this. When I made the 2009 BOM, I used regular copy paper on a printer to make the HST's. And that's a lot of HST's. It worked, but I think these will be much much easier to work with.Ellen Lindow
