    David Taylor

I was guild meeting last night and a friend told me that David Taylor had a very serious heart attack. Anyone know more about how he is doing and where we can send a card.

This is what David shared in his newsletter at the first of June:

In my February newsletter I explained I had hernia surgery and was taking some time off to recover. What I didn't tell you was how I was feeling afterward. My heart was 'fluttering' every day for long periods of time. At the insistence of my friend Kim Kooyers (a critical care nurse), I went for a check-up at the Heart Center here in Steamboat Springs. Making a long story short, after a 24-hour heart monitoring and a few tests over the following weeks, I was diagnosed at the end of March with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with obstruction.

I have had meetings with my cardiologist and the heart surgeon and I will be undergoing three procedures next week to keep my heart operational. I will have the obstruction removed, an artificial valve replacement, and a defibrillator implanted.

I unfortunately had to cancel my June bookings to accommodate the surgery and recovery. I won't know about the rest of my summer activities until mid-July. I'm confident that I will be up and running before my busy fall schedule kicks in. My heart surgeon has given me a 95% success rate! That is very encouraging.

Because of these health developments I am closing down my business for at least one month to concentrate on my health. I have closed my online store and am not making any future bookings until I know I'll be healthy enough to travel.

I am grateful I have so many friends who care about me. I'll be in good hands while I recover!

David's surgery went very well, and he is doing much better today. He wants to thank all of you for your concern and kind thoughts.

I wish him speedy and full recovery. That's a lot of procedures to go through; I pray for him to have strength to become stronger every day.

So my friend was wrong about the heart attack, but sounds like he caught in time and is on the road to recovery.
