Your Boro Bobbles are beautiful either way. But I agree with Norma that B looks right side up.

Wendy, would you tell us more about boro bobbles? They're really pretty!

I'm told it's Japanese for rag bobble. They were featured in Quilting Daily some years ago. My friend has taken it to the next level and does amazing embroidery and beads.

Anyway these are mine you cut circles of 2 1/2" 1 " and 1/2". Sew two 2 1/2" with running stitch stuff then sew the gap and blanket stitch over the raw edges. then add another circle to two and embroider.

They've no function except looking pretty and look great in a glass dish. My cats are eyeing them up

Thank you, Wendy. What a lovely thing to do with beautiful scraps of hand dyes! It breaks my heart not to make something beautiful out of even the smallest scrap.

Thanks, Wendy! Yup, it sounds like the Japanese boro you described. In Japan a whole fad has come out of a centuries-old custom of peasants continuing to patch clothing and passing them down... so if you have a small patch of fabric too good to waste, which is what boro refers to, you can still make something pretty out of it, like bobbles! I might make a few, as you mentioned, they would look pretty in a glass dish, although I think yours look so pretty because you have such pretty fabric and stitching!
