My Grandchildren live too far away for me to accompany them to go Trick or Treating. However, they have very vigilant parents who will tag along with them and take them to visit only friends they know. My own neighborhood is visited by many many children most of own I do not know because their parents bring them in from rural areas where there are no sidewalks or close neighbors. In recent years, I've had too many older teens without costume show up at my door which makes me rather uncomfortable. I prepare treats for friends and neighbor children but leave my porch light turned out on the night the hoards decend upon the town. I guess that makes me a real Witch but at the same time I believe the children are safer visiting only folks they know.

Lois, in that situation I'd do the same. Fortunately I live in a neighbourhood where you know everybody. I guess it helps that the older children (11 to 16) all go to the school where I work, and they know where I live. So far - knock on wood - I have never had any problems.

He is ok, Norma. I think he liked the experience, because he keeps asking me where I parked my broom when he comes across me in town.

We don't do the normal trick or treat at my house. We take our cars to the church parking lot and open the trunk--sit by the car and pass out candy. This way the kids have a safe place to go and don't have to worry about what they will receive.

I live in the country, so we do not get "trick or treat"ers here. Someone in the family hosts a halloween party. Everyone dresses in costume and brings a dish to share. We fix goody bags for the children. We usually have four generations of the family there and enjoy the fun.

You are all welcome to come to the party. Thank you for giving me an idea for a costume Lorchen. I am going as a "quilty witch" I will just fix a witch costume and attach numerous quilt notions. I need to get to the LQS and buy some fabric for a witchy skirt, and maybe a cape. I will get a picture and you can all laugh.

She is soooo cute! Just curious: does she bear a keen resemblance to you when you were that age, Lorchen? I see it in the shape of the face and the smile... am I wrong? Happy Halloween!

Lorchen, your beautiful granddaughter has a wonderful smile. I agree with Renata. There is a wonderful resemblance to her Grandmother. Lovely!
