Thinking about all of you Colorado quilters
I've been keeping up with the news (mostly on CNN) about all of the flooding in Colorado. I know we have so many quilters in CO along with Ricky and Justin. If you are a CO quilter, let us know first hand how things are going. You all are in my thoughts and my prayers daily. As the situation gets to a point where we can help, please let us know how we can best help out.Tags: None

There was a wonderful shop in Lyons that was just sold to an employee. She moved the store to a different part of downtown, but I heard it was just as great. Now that entire town is under water. We have several friends that have evacuated here in Weld County. We are about 40 miles east of the mountains and it is where two rivers converge. So you can imagine the flooding here now is terrible. I haven't heard how any other shops are fairing, but I am sewing away. We have 11 quilters from our guild that went on a retreat up to the mountains and were supposed to come home on Thursday. Well the roads are washed out. They are safe and have plenty of food and projects to do, and might actually finish them, lol. But some are running out of medicine. They were told maybe on Sunday. Thanks for thinking of our state. We all know someone who is affected by this terrible flood.

I live about 5 miles west of Jamestown (much closer as the crow flies). Luckily, I'm on top of the mountain so am not much affected myself. We did lose power for 2 days and our phones have been out since yesterday morning, don't know when they'll be back. But poor Jamestown is devastated. There was one fatality of a guy whose home collapsed. Several other homes have collapsed as well, but it sounds like everyone made it out of those okay. I've been hearing the helicopters this morning as they evacuate people since the roads are all washed out so there is no other way out of town. Unfortunately, we're expecting more rain tonight and tomorrow. I hope we don't get as much as is expected! I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to Boulder again since all of the roads are washed out between here and there. I'm supposed to drive to Breckenridge tomorrow for a radar conference, but I've decided to hold off until Monday so I'm not driving in the rain and have a better idea of how the roads end up.

Thank you for your updates! Sewengel, how many times do we wish that our retreats could last longer?! I'm glad you and your guild friends are safe and that they have plenty of food, etc. Sounds like the next Show & Tell at your guild meeting will be interesting! Nancy, I saw some of the flooding at Jamestown on the news and it looked awful. I'm glad you are fine and that you are waiting a bit before going to the conference. Take care when you go!
Keep us updated on how things are going - I surely have all of you in my thoughts and prayers!

You guys are so kind to be thinking of our state. On Sat. the water got south of our town. We are fine, but if you go to a satellite map you will see 3 rivers converge here and its a mess. Many families had to evac. too. The town where my DH works there is a no flush, no drinking water, etc. order. We are the largest farm/ag county in the state and all the crops were very close to getting in. Now the water is heading toward Ft. Morgan and Sterling and both have been flooded. And it is also headed to NE Colo towards Julesburg and then Ogalalla, NE.
Quick little story. The chinook helicopters are evac. people from the mountain towns. Yesterday a reporter was where evac. were brought by school bus and there was about 30 people and dogs coming out. A cute little boy ran from it straight to the reporter and said "I got to ride on a helicopter AND and school bus!" He was so cute and his eyes were huge, but his poor mother looked like she had been through a keyhole backwards, which is understandable.
Thanks again dear TQS friends for your concern and prayers, it is greatly appreciated.

Sharon, Nancy and all~ DH and I flew back to California from Larimer County yesterday. Surprisingly I25 was open all the way from Fort Collins to DIA although it still looked pretty bad around Johnson's Corner. All of my family is OK, but what heart breaking devastation all around. I was wondering about you and your families, but was unable to access the internet to see how you were faring. Something about damaged fiber optics...it certainly sounded plausible. So glad to hear that everyone is accounted for and safe. Thinking about you and wishing you all the best.
